ESC Malfunction Indicator Light

@jpalser - are they pulling the trans because of the ESC issue or is that mainly for the ESS?

They are replacing the transmission???? I am having the same issue, my light has been turning on and staying on for periods of time and will eventually go out for a while then will come back on. I have an appointment this week to have it looked at.

Another update: the service dept found an issue with the PDC and is going to replace it. They think this will fix the issue, if it doesn’t, they’ll make a request to replace the PCM.

Chrysler wants the trans to inspect. They said they think its internal problem.

So I just picked up the Jeep. They replaced the vacuum pump. They test drove it then test drove it again. Code was gone. I picked it up and drove about 10-15 mins and the damn light came on again.

@JeepCares - the dealership hasn’t been a problem but this Jeep appears to have an issue. I plan on dropping it off again tomorrow. How can FCA get this right? I’ve been in a loaner more than 20% of the time I’ve owned the vehicle. I have 1300 miles and purchased May 29th. Is there anything you can do on your end to assist the dealership?

I took my Jeep to the dealer, they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. They cleared the codes. Now my Tpms display is missing from my display.

Every time they cleared my code, it came back within a handful of miles. Haven’t had an issue with TPMS though.

UPDATE: just heard back from my dealer and, on top of replacing the PDC, they also need to replace the TIPM. The part is on backorder. I’ve been told everything has been expedited but don’t have an ETA on the part or install. I’ll continue to keep you all informed as I learn more...

Is the light coming on with the codes skrubi? I ran a check on mine again and found that the same 3 codes were back/still there but no warning light/message. Something with the canbus having low voltage.

Basically, the esc malfunction indicator light comes on. I turn Jeep off, I start it and it’s gone. I drive for awhile the. It’s back on again. Each time it’s turned off and restarted, the light is out. They’re able to pull the code and each time it’s stored as C125292. Now I haven’t had the Jeep in my possession since I dropped it off the morning of 7/5. The next day they said they were ordering a new PDC. I guess they were installing it and re-checking the vacuum pump again and found an issue with the TIPM, which is now going to be replaced - but it’s on backorder and they’re trying to expedite the process.

Just received an update from service. 1) the PDC and TIPM in the JL are one in the same (per service advisor). 2) it appears to have been poorly installed from the factory as there was a “short to ground” 3) they were able to expedite the part and get it installed and so far no issues; they’ll have it taken for a longer test drive to re-check. It sounds like I may get this back today!! Will update with more details once I find out...

Just got my Jeep back and was able to drive more than 6 miles without the light coming on. Hopefully I’m done with this issue!

Another quick update: I think we can call this case closed. Drove the Jeep a good 20 or so miles in my own and no ESC malfunction light. Very thankful that is resolved. Here’s to all of us guinea pigs!

Finally got this resolved after 6 attempts for a fix. Dealer finally called in the district engineer/tech yesterday to look at it.

Tech hooked up to it and found that it wasn’t pulling enough vacuum causing the pump to run constantly. They swapped out the hose at the vacuum pump with another one from a JL on the lot and everything was fine and that other Jeep experiences my issue. They’re sending the hose off to engineering for analysis.

So glad you got it figured out... Just bought my wife a JLUR and were going through the same issue. Had the Service Electronic Stability light come on @250 miles, 360 miles 470 miles, every time it comes on when the car shuts off it clears the message. Well got an appointment @dealer and took in and they replaced the vacuum pump. Well driving home from dealer it went off again @640miles. I called them back and have another appointment to drop off tomorrow. Its came on twice since replaced vacuum pump and im still under 1000miles. I hope they can get this resolved.
