And they FINALLY recognized that this mornng. New one on order.
How did you know that though? They literally did everything except replace the tcase. Checked wiring. Replaced tcase motor. This past wheeling trip though, the light would only come on when I was hitting the gas or putting torque on the tcase. I think that's what finally got them to order it.
There is something loose inside the box that causes it to lose sense of position, seen it a few times. Hope it’s a warranty claim and they get you taken care of.

Do you have the “full time” 4WD option on yours?

What is the something? Do you happen to have a schematic of this tcase?
Yes, $4k CDN for the case with a $1k core charge all covered under warranty.

Yes, I have the "let's soccer moms think they're driving AWD" option. Lol. Junk

I’m not sure exactly what it is that fails inside of these things, we don’t crack them open at our shop. Sorry. It’s rare, if that helps you feel better.

Lol. It does, sort of. I'm a tech by trade and just like knowing how and why things work/fail. All I know is hopefully I don't see it anymore. It sucks when you're in the middle of an obstacle and 4wd shits the bed.

Good morning!

I'm sorry to hear about the concerns you've been experiencing lately. If either of you would like additional support when you visit your preferred Jeep dealer to get this addressed, just send our @JeepCares team a private message. We'd be happy to investigate further. Thanks!

I’m having the same issue in my 2021 392 JL. Should not be expected on an $85K vehicle!

Thank you all for the comments. Same thing here -- Indicator goes out, 4WD Service light, Swaybar connects, traction control locks rear brakes. Turn vehicle off and on and Ok for short while and happens again. It doesn't think it is in 4WD.

2019 Rubicon with 28K miles. Happened on Cliffhanger in Moab after shipping it from AL cutting the trip to Moab short and only wheeling 1 1/2 days. No codes, extremely aggravating.

After 2 weeks waiting to get into the dealer back home it is being looked at now. Want it fixed once and for all at it will not show up driving in 2WD and only at the worst times.

Yes -- same here as once in TX it April 2022, thought fixed and came back.

Clearly the dealer did not get to root cause and why I was trolling threads to help "guide". You can imagine after cost/imposition from shipping, lodging, travel to 4 others in oour group and cut Moab wheeling short after 1 1/2 days have zero desire to happen again.

Had issues with our '19 Wrangler. Battery died. Couldn't boost it. Called Chrysler Jeep and towing showed up. They had quite a chore starting the Wrangler. Took a long time.

I've read so many threads about battery replacement here on the forum; Gladiator forum too. There are two batteries.

Sometimes the little auxiliary battery fails. Then gremlins happen....hope this helps.

Correction / Update as of 2/9/2023

Closure -- I hope. After several weeks, emails, pictures, discussions they solve to the not knowing in 4WD was the Transfer Case Position Sensor and Drivetrain Control Module (DCM). The DCM was likely more of an insurance policy as don't want to happen again. Also found was a connector to the power steering not taped up (replaced with PSC non-electrical steering box) and wondered if water got in causing the system to trip. Very likely since can-bus is sensitive. But who knows as feel for the dealer as could not replicate the issue and had to do more of a process of elimination.

===============

Update --

Forget what is written above, what I thought was closure wasn't.

Went to Texas and 6 hours into off-roading in 4 low in tough conditions it happened again. The $2,200 spent did nothing and looks as if they threw parts at it. I took to another dealer in TX (remember I am in AL) and they found the issue.

It was the battery. If the battery dips below a certain level the computer doesn't know what to do. My 2019 battery was going bad and by the next AM was 100% dead. During the outing it threw 38 electrical codes. This makes sense as sensitive the computer is and the load is higher in 4WD as so many systems at work. Could also see it in cold weather (I was at the Pola Bear Run in Jan) as a drain on the battery. So to ensure would not happen again I had them put in a Genesis Dual Battery kit.

So I know others will have this issue if they use their Jeep in 4WD Low -- this thread is evidence. Do not let them throw parts at it as feel so taken advantage of costing so much money. The dealer will not be able to replicate so educate them.

That's my story. Hope it helps others who experience the same issue.

Well 20 to 25cm of snow 6am in the morning and off I go. Service 4wd light on. 2029 Sahara JLU. A little gun in 2wd. Got to destination open the hood and pushed every fuse. Fuse 40 is still loose. Get in the Jeep and no service 4wd light on the dash. 4autoand 4h part time both work. Maybe a trip to the dealer to see if there are codes.

See my update above -- sounds like you had same issue. Do not get ripped off by dealer as I did prior.

I figure the battery. I picked up a Noco Genius 10. If the battery does not kick in ESs within this month. I will have them check the batteries again. My ESS keeps resdingvcharging, however it's been record cold weather here minus 49 to minus 12.

2022 rubicon 9k miles 2.0 turbo engine and haven’t driven in 4wd at all yet. Service 4WD light coming on intermittently. I’ve also had some strange issues where jeep feels like it suddenly jumps into low gear. Pull off to side of the road and it felt like it went back into normal gear and then it drives fine. Dealer says I need new front actuator. Having it replaced next week so we’ll see. I’ll post updates. This “serv 4wd” issue seems to be a prevalent problem. @JeepCares should be pushing Jeep for a recall event!
