I didnt know this before I bought my rig. Kinda pissed. Not because I hate ESS, I actually kind of like it sometimes. It's just the setup of a second battery in a bad spot. Batteries dont last long here, on average about 2 years, so now I have two batteries to replace. Not smart. This could be a deal breaker.
I didn't realize all models had this. Thought it was an option. The dual battery thing plus the annoyance of having to shut the damn thing off every time I start it concerns me. The battery thing alone seems to be a potential horror show at some point.
I purposely ordered a stripped down sport for the simplicity of it. This feature, for me personally kinda defeats the purpose.
I'm contemplating bailing out and getting a JK instead.
Still, I LOVE this jeep, JK owners all seem to be saying the JL is a BIG improvement over the JK. Go for an 18 if you go JL, the 19's are going to have and even more tech. Might be good, dunno.
Personally I think the aftermarket will come up with a one battery solution so it will be a non-issue. I cant stop driving mine, power is great, suspension amazing, just everything. I am creating reasons to drive the thing and never has destroying the planet been so much fun. lol
