My son and I build one of these today based off the plans. Just made it a bit wider between uprights (about 6.5 inches). Now we need a nice day to fully test it out. It's a rainy weekend in Georgia.

They could, but they are not split al the way through except for a few on the bottom. I slid the pipe through the foam before assembly. The ones on the bottom I did tape up so they wont split since I used giant zip ties to hold the rack to the dolly. If they start splitting, it's easy enough to wrap them with some tape

Yes I was told its hard to find the black noddle thats not cut on the side at all. So a guy was going to make me one but could not find it then i ended up going with the wall hangers by ARC and I really like the way they hold the doors on the wall

Is that the black foam in the plumbing department like at Depot that has the slit down it ?
Yes... it's the PVC foam insulation with the adhesive on the inside that you've seen. Others who've done this may have used something different.

question i built this, great instructions. now my rear window hangs about half an inch. is this ok? the 1x2 has some flex which is why there is a little gap for the window to hang.

is your guy’s window snug right up against the hardtop or do you have a small gap as well? didn’t know if the arms not being fully closed would affect it for 7 months

Thank you so much for this! I made the door cart today. Got a little happy with the electrical tape! LOL. The foam was pretty fragile though so I wrapped the whole thing in it. P.S. Harbour freight had pvc cutters on sale today for 5 bucks and dolly for 10! Got everything for 65 bucks... and 10 more for all the tape LOL

This is the 6" sections? Would you recommend this size for the doors or do you think it needs to be wider?

Used door cart for the 1st time today. Yeah the arm rests are wider on the JL so its a tight fit, but that being said its perfectly usable for me; but if you have not build one yet, give each slot another 1-2 inches in width.
Slot you mean instead of the 6" sections do 8"?

Yeah, even 7". I got the leather option, somehow the door seems slightly different thickness than non-leather.
