DIY Door Installation Pin Guides

With all the door removal/installation taking place, I thought I'd share these door pin guides I made with 3/8 OD, 3/16 ID vacuum tube cut to 1 1/4" length. They make it much easier to install the doors. I push them on just far enough for them to stay on, then pull them off after the door is installed.

I’ve only removed the doors a few times, but how does this help make it easier?

I imagine that it let's you line up the pins to the hole without damaging the hinge or the threads. Great idea Jerry!

This is correct. There's no metal to metal contact when trying to align the pins to the hinges.

And now that I think about, I should have made a slanted cut to make it easier to "spear" the guide into the hinge.

Oh! Now I see. I didn’t have a problem because the doors are pretty light, but I can see how that might be an issue for some people especially if you’re doing it in the dark or it’s windy etc.

I didn't realize people had difficulty aligning two pins.
