I also have the forward collision and adaptive cruise control so the housing is much bigger. So far no aftermarket replacement mirrors work with it. Also haven’t figured out how to get the mirror out without breaking something.

The Brandmotion 8886 being discussed fits with the Safety and Advanced Safety groups fine.

Digital mirrors - another failure prone solution looking for a problem to solve.
I had close to zero visibility out of my rearview mirror prior to installing this digital mirror. There was just a sliver through the corners of the rear window.

No rear visibility vs rear visibility is a no brainier.

It also records front and rear.

I love these kinds of comments. It solves a great problem...visibility. Three years in a Corvette, no issues, three years in TRX, no issues,...and even if the camera were to fail, it reverts to being a normal mirror. Once you experience a digital rearview mirror, you might be surprised at what a difference it makes.

Just wanted to say if anyone is on the bubble, this is a great upgrade. I'm used to digital rear-view mirrors in the TRX and Corvette and thought I would try this. It's not as clear as those but honestly, the price point and ease of installation are worth it.

The ability to see everything is a game changer for me and it's a front/rear full-time recorder.

The reviews are interesting but I took a leap of faith. The kit is complete and there are youtube videos. It's not hard to install.
I've had a digital mirror on mine for a couple of years now and they're nice for recording trail rides but only issue I came across is it interferes with the driver's side sunvisor when you flip it down. Have to move the mirror out of the way and readjust to get the visor past it. Of course you can always swing the visor back, flip it down then swing it back forward to clear the mirror but that's too much work when a flaming ball of Florida sun smacks you in the face.

It depends how wide they are. Note that these don't have to be angled like a traditional mirror, so you turn it much more toward you so it doesn't interfere with the visor.

Remove smaller cover. Remove three screws holding mirror bracket. Mirror is removed by 1/8 turn. It's firm. I have same features. Google YouTube video for it.
Earlier you mentioned something about running it through the buttons on the front? Did I misunderstand that one?

Digital mirrors - another failure prone solution looking for a problem to solve.
They come from the factory on the Grand Cherokee L and Wagoneer now. My wife had one on her Escalade for several years and zero problems. In the event of a failure, they still have the option to work like a normal mirror. On the longer three row vehicles, it is really nice when you have them packed with people or junk because it does not matter what you have in the vehicle, you can still see clearly with the camera mirror. It also has a larger viewing angle than you get from inside the vehicle.

For me, it was a no brainer. I wanted a front camera and could not see out the rear because of my 37" spare which is mounted fairly high for clearance purposes. I had taken the mirror out all together and was getting along fine with just the Tazer coming on with the turn signal, but my youngest daugher has been taking my Jeep out and I wanted her to be able to see out the back.

You or someone asked about the SOS feature and my response was you can relocate those functions to the switch in the headliner. The newer Jeeps don't have those functions in the mirror so I assume it's an earlier JL model. Those buttons are now located in the passenger airbag display.

Ok, I misunderstood. I thought you were running the mount for the rear view mirror through one of the front SOS or Airbag buttons to raise it up.

I was able to fab a conversion piece to mount my camer tot he original hole. It brings it up very tight to the bottom of the trim. However, it is wide and does have to be adjusted to get the drivers side visor down. I don't really use the visor so it is not a big deal.

I do miss the clear vision I had out the front when I was running without a mirror all together.

Ah, thanks, sorry to create any confusion. The big black box in the middle of the windshield is annoying but I've gotten used to it at this point. The mirror is nothing compared to that big blob of plastic :)

I’m glad to hear it’s been a good experience. I’m interested in one as well but haven’t pulled the trigger. Another one I keep getting ads for is Wolfbox
Not to take away from the OP but a friend has a wolfbox and loves it. I'm planning on running one in my truggy project. Hers is a full mirror replacement and not just a clip on.

A digital camera and mirror display when you have stuff blocking a physical mirror is a game changer. I'm sure there are several good competitors out there.

May have been answered but how do you open or remove the cover over the rear view mirror mount on the black box the is over the ACC stuff on the windshield. I can get he lower part to pop out but the top doesn’t want to come out. Don’t want to do something stupid and break it.

I hear what you are saying but how do you choose which technologies to embrace or ignore. Making it an option to test the market and functionality is a great way to see if it makes sense. I won’t poo poo it right out of the gate.

This question is born of respect and ignorance, not saber rattling.

Why wouldn't acquisition of a Z Automotive Tazer, which for less money provides the ability to use the backup camera at all times, in addition to other features offered by the product, not be a viable alternative?

Is it that using this product takes up radio screen real estate?

TIA.
