Here’s the info you’re looking for. …see attached
These are the same sheets I found in the mega-thread. They've been linked a couple times in this thread, but neither one mentions the M200.

Does not matter...still a D44 and still should use 75W-140.
It might not matter in your opinion--and I also think it's fine to use 75W140 in an M200. We're not looking for your opinion, tho. Instead, we're trying to find the "recommendation from Dana" that 75W140 should be used in the M200.

Dana 44 Specs sheets posted 2+ times again in this thread.

Those specs refer to the M210 and M220, not the M200 the OP is asking about.

Yes, M200 is Dana 44 !
Yes, they are. But there are different models and applications within that line. It's okay that you don't have the document you said you had -- I think everyone is fine without it. I was just eager to see the documentation directly from the manufacturer.

See my last post above for the M200 spec sheet.

Good find, thanks! It's not clear if the OP is using a M200 rear or M200 front, but at least we've got something now. Which JLs have the D35 M200 rear?
You seem to not get it. Dana these days, is recommending the use of 75/140 across the board so to speak..... plain and simple. Old news!

Mike, the M200 IS a rear axle; it’s mated with the M186 front axle. Pre-2024, all models without the LSD, other than the Rubicon, have these two axles.

Apparently my Google-fu is at master black belt level, as it took me less than 30 seconds to find the M200 spec sheet ?

OK; then use Dana's recommendation, though I do stand corrected on one point--the M200 is a D35, but again, it STILL does not matter because with the spec sheet below, the loop is complete.

Dana recommends 75W-140 in ALL DANA axles in a JL...

https://d3qx1uccksbb2n.cloudfront.net/docs/SPECSHEET-JL-REAR-D35A-42019.pdf

The part that is hilarious is given the failures that have happened due to heat and the low oil capacity, that anyone would/could argue not to use a higher viscosity oil...CAFE FTW!

Looks to me that Dana says use 75w-140 for M200 M21 M220 on the spec-sheet rebuild sheet.

I have a 2024 392.... off the top of my head I do not remember which axle designation I have but my owners manual states "recommended" 80W90. I believe I saw a month or so ago on the 392 forum a guy had a message back from a Dana engineer who is a Jeep guy and he stated that he uses 75W140 in his M210-220 D44 diff's. There was something posted on a Dana article on the Dana website promoting the axles that they are working with manufactures like Jeep to improve MPG and they use the Synthetic 80w90 to help achieve 1.4% better MPG.

So read into this what you will but it seems like either any synthetic 80w90 or 75w90 or 75w140 works.

Let’s get this thread to 30 pages.

I’ll start…….

Amsoil 0w-20 made my engine run cooler and less noise, so I threw that in my diffs too. Prove me wrong….

???
https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/mega-75w90-testing-thread.378175/

EDIT: Those were users' test results.

Compare the 4 ball wear test: the wear in mm ranged from .361 to .869, some depending on oil, some oils will wear twice as fast as the best performing oil.

4 Ball Wear test, 4 of those oils can carry an additional 100 kg load before failure.

Most importantly perhaps, some oils lost over two-thirds of their viscosity in 20 hr shear test, and some sheared very little.

Asshat?? Hahaha ok. …..so again why did you recommend 75/90 to me??? And AGAIN this was after you on the previous page swore 75/140 ??? Guess pointing out that was done with me from you and making sure to OP to do his DD for these exact reasons, makes me and asshat?

The fact you choose to be rude and name call is a bad look.

But hey do you !!

Asshat out ✌
Yeah I don't even know why @Rhinebeck01 bothered to reply if his attitude turned so hateful and dismissive. Not someone I would ever turn to for advice. Maybe he could just keep his asshat opinions to himself next time and not try to be "so helpful". For what it's worth I use 75/140 gear oil F&R. And I'm sure if I mention the brand he would do a "deep dive" into why that brand was no good.
