Hey guys and gals, I’m considering trading in my beloved four-door Rubicon on 37s for a Ford raptor. I like the idea of having more storage space in a little bit more comfort while traveling long distances. Has anybody made the switch either to or from this vehicle.?

If you need a truck, get a truck. I would def opt for a raptor vs a gladiator if I needed a truck - more comfort and space, absolutely. Different vehicles, different needs. The worst thing you can do is ask the internet what you should do with your money lol.

Buy the Raptor, then get yourself a 2 door Wrangler for running around in. I have a 2015 F150 that I bought new and a 2 door Willys. I love having both, as each has it's place for my needs. My wife has a 2022 Wagoneer too, so we have most bases covered.

An F150/Raptor is big, really big. It has the same cab as a Super Duty. You will be very limited as to where you can go off road. The desert and beaches are about it. Anything technical or with tight turns will result in pint and body damage. My truck has an Eibach 3" suspension and Raptor take off wheels/tires. I only take it off road on ranch roads and the beach. I use it mostly for towing and hauling. An F150 is a great long distance vehicle. A Raptor is too wide for almost any normal parking spaces.

I have owned Raptors, a TRX, and several Gladiators. All went on trails in the Northeast. All of them sucked for one reason or another. The Raptors & TRX were the worst as manuerverability was miserable, at least compared to my Wrangler.

So I bought a Ram 1500 Limited that is my long-distance truck and hauls my track car.

Unfortunately, as I sit here and type this, I have been thinking about picking up another TRX because it’s just so ridiculously fun to drive.

I have a full-size truck and my ‘21 JLURD. I’ve contemplated selling my truck and just buying a trailer for when I need the bed space :-P.

Good luck on a solution for this tough 1st world problem.

Raptor is too wide for serious off roading and trail use. If you like the interior and ride refinement of F150 Raptor, I would suggest considering the New 6th gen Ranger Raptor.. i blv it's coming to North America in the 2023 model year.

If one has a need for a pickup truck, with some 4x4 capability, then the Raptor is the way to go..IMO
I have never owned one, but my neighbor has one. I have driven it both on and of road. If I was looking to purchase a pickup truck, that would be my choice!!!!!!!!!

Even the Ranger and Bronco Raptors are as wide as a regular F150. They are mostly "lifestyle" vehicles. Almost every F150 Raptor I see around here is well cared for with no off road damage. As expemsive as they are, and for what a nice used one goes for, I wouldn't be tearing one up either.

I have a gen 1 Raptor and it’s been great over the years. It has the 6.2 and is both durable and fun. Does truck stuff and you can have some fun with it .

Best Raptor made. Make sure to get the bigger engine; 6.2 I believe.
That's Gen2, 3.5 EcoBoost. Still a great engine. If you've never owned one or driven one, they are amazing.
