This is contrary to various other descriptions that I have seen as to how the Rock Trac transfer case works. My understanding (which may very well be wrong) was that 4H Auto uses the clutch system and the 4H Part Time uses a mechanical system that locks the case at 50%/50%.
System works as I described and have shown in testing, yes it's weird it does that but the information doesn't lie.

Shit, I’m wrong most of the time. Has to be something different about them. Two different part numbers. The AWD of the 392 has to be setup different than than the 4wd Auto of the other t-case. Using a center differential type system.
Well you have been so far, and again its the same system and same programming again Jeep just left out the 2H option on the 392, they also almost left that mode out on the 4xe as well, do to the vehicle making too much torque for RWD. Instead Jeep kept the 2H mode on the 4xe, and simply limited Boost in the 2H mode.

I think 2011-2021 GC uses a mp3023. very similar t-case. But not the same.
MP3022 is used, MP3023 is on the Quadra Drive 2 Models, the only difference is the MP3023 models have the rear ELSD which really doesn't change anything in the transfer case

Could you point me towards some source that says the mp3022 is used in a grand Cherokee? I just don’t see it anywhere. I see reference to it using a mp3023 since 2011. it is also in the Durango.. But the mp3022 only being in a JL and Liberty.

MP3022 and MP3023 are identical, Jeep/Dodge uses the MP3023 like it's a different transfercase but it's not. Its simply the same T-Case based buy the rear ELSD
That is a silly thing. Lots of confusion on those numbers. Same site different info. https://jeepspecs.com/wk2-generation/transfer-cases-and-4wd-systems/

Some say the mp3023 is the dodge designation and mp3022 is the Jeep. But it make sense they are the same. That makes me feel better about my 392. The MP3022 was my biggest worry in the drivetrain. I was like “putting that liberty t-case in the 392 was the worst choice they could have made!”
