That wasn't my experience (based on voice). . . They just seemed like people who were not empowered and didn't care. . . . except for the last guy who clearly cared but was completely not empowered. One of them shared that FSA changed companies in the midst of all of this. However, it was obvious that there was no training, no accountability, no caring, no follow-up, and no infrastructure (v-mail, e-mail, etc) to support these folks. I work in customer service and this was some of the worst I've ever seen. . . .
My caseworker at first beat around the bush with me. When I called back because I hadn't heard from him I let his coworker know I was not happy with my conversation and being irresponsible, when I heard back from him things started going forward. It took a 1 yr and 9 months to get everything fixed not except able in my book . If my Jeep has a corrosion issue down the road there will be no phone calls just a local sale or trade in and no Chrysler or jeep products in my garage. Jeep needs to tighten up their quality control and customer service their service dept need a better attitude and care if they have a job in the future !

Not this thread again!!

We've already figured out the answer and solved this problem!!!

Jeeps are meant to be dirty. If your Wrangler isn't constantly covered in mud, it will dry out and bubbles will form under the paint. You need to keep your Wrangler constantly covered in fresh mud. Otherwise you will have all sorts of issues.

Stop treating it like a pavement princess and get that Wrangler dirty!

Corrosion on door hinges...What's the big deal? Isn't the first rule of owning a jeep getting rid of the doors and hard top. ;)
I know you’re joking, but that’s the attitude I’m taking. Granted, I only have two doors and the hinges only recently started showing corrosion (I’m beyond the 5 year warranty), but I’m shrugging it off. By the time it gets so bad that action has to be taken, the thing will be a decade old and I’ll just put new half doors on it.

Does anyone know if getting a jeep wrapped would void the paint warranty if bubbling problems pop up down the line?

Stellantis is hoping we all have this attitude…no reason to improve quality if the consequences are minimal…. I am optimistic a class action lawsuit will be helpful.

you all need to be filing complaints with consumer protection agencies, there are laws requiring companies to prevent and fix rust. Thank Ford and Chevy of the 70's for that one.

Even file BBB complaint, they hate those.

Do a google review of dealerships not helping.

Google review mopar in general using google maps and selecting their corporate office. 1000 Chrysler Dr, CIMS 485-04-03 Auburn Hills, MI 48326.

After responding to this tread I decided to check my hinges for bubbling. I now have joined the club with both hinges on my right rear door showing corrosion under the paint. So far nothing elsewhere. I’ve owned my 2020 Recon since April 2020. Replacing and repainting a couple of hinges is no big deal…provided the problem remains isolated to the hinges. Unfortunately I suspect this is just the beginning…ugggg

In all likelihood - your suspicion is probably spot on.

For those that do not think this is an issue to be concerned about - keep thinking that way. Because once you see the bubbles in your paint you will be pissed off - thinking WTF is this.

Before we had ours occur it was - what problem? I see nothing. Haha!

But then decided to go to the JL and take a very close look - and sure enough - yep. This is BS. No mud will cover it up. Dust will not cover it up. Single track pinstriping will not cover it up. Dents will not cover it up. It is there and will not go away. 3x FCA has paid to make this good. Right now it is perfect and corrosion free. Apparently with a lifetime warranty on keeping it gone.

All my pinstriping has since disappeared! Paint chips now gone. So super positive. Only evidence are the remnants scraped into the plastic fenders. Haha!

So from a single tiny little bubble at one hinge - got it on another - then hinge joined at the body panel. Then onto the hood hinge - then hinge joined at the body panel. Then at the hood leading edge - then at the lower edge door panels. So yeah spreads. Takes days weeks months years.

Long story short is that everything is now repaired with panels replaced - looking almost as good as new. In some places even better as the paint is flat vs the factory orange peel. Will it come back? Would not be surprised.

Until then - am still super enjoying driving this go anywhere beast covering it in mud and snow and slush. Think it was around $5K first time - then $10K second time - then $15K last time. So big loss for FCA - but big gain for me. As Dealer has offered to pay me more today - than what was paid used in 2019.

2018 with zero paint bubbling. Nice. Turned out not that bad in the end.

We’ll see how the corrosion progresses in the next six to nine months. If it starts spreading quickly….like cancer, I‘ll get rid of it sooner rather than later. Even if Jeep pays (which often is not the case), it still a hassle to fix repeatedly. This is my last Stellantis product.

It sounds like you’ve had good support from your dealer at least.

Yeah the corrosion is a major turn off.

Have thought about selling as well - but this JL has been near perfect otherwise. Fundamental reason for this JL from day one was to get up and down mountains in any and all conditions. For that it has 100% over-performed - definitely exceeding my very high expectations.

Interestingly the huge bonus is all the many other uses we have used this JL for. Like camping - exploring - sleeping 2 of us in it - pulling out stuck vehicles - moving hundreds of pounds of gravel - even plain jane long distance straight as an arrow 2 finger high speed highway driving. Haha!

Nice little perk is driving with just the driver Freedom panel removed. Adds a bit of open top feeling that we always enjoy. Not like our Porsche - but gets you some fresh air and wind blowing around. Only takes a minute off - then another minute back on. Like the speed and simplicity + like the rigid panel design. Stores fast and easy behind the driver seat leaning on the floor without the bag.

I too have had fun with my Wrangler, but I’ve also been plagued by issues that have been minor because they happened in my driveway but could have been catastrophic in the wild (fuel line leak and water pump bolts that backed out)…along with ongoing electrical glitches. It’s really too bad because I like the capability of this vehicle. I just know paint cancer will destroy resale and I am also concerned about long term reliability anyway. This is my second wrangler but certainly my last.?
