I have called, it is still being reviewed even though it is blatantly corroding through in the pictures and getting worse each day...

Wow... All I can say is wow... I've been busting my ass to buy/order a new Rubicon January 1st. After reading the last 40 pages of this post, I will absolutely not be spending 50k on something that may last 3 weeks or 3 years before corrosion settles in. Really disappointed. Back to the drawing board I guess. Grateful we have these forums, 20 years ago we would have all just assumed it was an anomaly. Really disappointed, been telling my 5 year old we were going to be riding by March. Maybe I need to look at the bronco after all

And it's truly ashame because I had a drive train issue with my 2004 wrangler x @JeepCares never could rectify. I had to lemon law that vehicle and the attorney for damnler Chrysler introduces himself to me by telling me, I've never lost a lemon law case yet. Yet somehow, I loved my Jeep so much I was willing to try it again 16 years later. Now with the Bronco coming out, I can get the Jeep fix, hopefully without the Jeep problems. Shame, I was literally less than 8 weeks away from dropping 50k (had the PO already, was just pending down payment). Blessed I found this thread. I hope all of you boys and girls get your Jeeps rectified CORRECTLY, and FCA finally fixes this issue.

Unfortunately you may not be out of the water with a Bronco. Ford has a class action lawsuit ongoing for the very same issue. They may have fixed it already on their end, but only time will tell.
I thought about buying a Bronco too, but what I am finding more and more attractive is a lease.
That way I could care less about these issues.

Obviously I am concerned this might happen to my Jeep. That said none of us know if this is an occasional thing or widespread. Perhaps you should find a dealer with 2018 and 2019 wranglers and check it out for yourself. I would not be optimistic that a first year Ford product will be problem free....I would bet the opposite.

Are there any 2021s that have this problem?

I’m 99.9% sure I seen in this or one of the other threads someone with a 2021 reported this issue.
Unfortunately
I'm gonna go scour the local Jeep dealer and look at the 2021s and pre-owned ones to see if there is issues. One of the guys here posted he saw it on vehicles sitting on the lot for sale. I'm so depressed and I don't even own one. I was finally gonna treat myself. Dave Ramsey always seems to win

Yea....if you go look I’d say start with maybe 2018, 2019 models and probably by now some 2020’s....2021’s are a maybe right now. By spring I’m sure the guys with 2021’s will be chiming in here (hopefully not) but we’ll see. But as I said I’m pretty sure someone already reported this on a 2021.

Seems to begin to occur a year + in to the vehicles life. Some ppl do experience it within just a few months unfortunately too.

there was someone who did mention going to a dealer lot and seeing a ton for sale with the issue. It sucks!
But it’s even worse when you see ppl try and have it resolved and the paint work is bad or the issue just returns within months.

I love my Jeep. I’ve wanted one since the jk’s first came out. And I heard of this hinge problem. But before it was ONLY the hinge itself. And guys I knew just replaced the hinges. It came in the flat black. Some left it that way or some had hinges painted.
Regardless it was such an easy fix for this damn issue!
Some how we went backwards with the corrosion on jl’s

smh!

So is there a way to DEFINITELY fix it from the point of delivery?

Honestly, I’m no expert. Others who are more familiar with galvanic corrosion would be better educated to chime in.

I’d maybe contact a shop that is certified in aluminum vehicles as those guys will definitely have some insight on this! I’ve heard Audi dealers and shops are pretty knowledgeable in this department(so if you know anyone’s brain you can pick from there) I may do the same myself.

I wish I knew a DEFINITE answer to this.
I honestly feel that it’s just poor prep work on FCA’s part. Yes other brands (FORD) have had this issue as well. And hence the class action suit.
But Many manufacturers have switched to aluminum body’s...I’ve owned a couple (Infiniti and range rover) neither have experienced this. Range Rover is 3 hrs old. My Infiniti I had before the Jeep was 11 yrs I had it since my early 20’s....not a spot of corrosion on it when I sold it

Ill say this tho....prime and paint (something soooo simple) in between the hinge and door would of made a world of a difference.
Some how on 50-60k Jeep, that was too much to ask for.
But I guess if you buy and take ownership you could get a Certifed aluminum shop to do that for you (to help prevent the situation)

not that you should have too. Just a thought
