I continue to have paint bubbling issues on my 2018 and keep getting the run around. I will try to AG route but I also thought there was a larger law suit that was being pursued. Does anyone know anything about a law suit?

I got mine back from the painters yesterday. The service manager I worked with happened to tell me that mine was one of the last that that dealership would be doing since FCA isn't reimbursing them fully. I'd imagine to see this ultimately become a class action against FCA as the problem is too common for them to avoid.

I'm just glad I only have one 1'' spot on each lower drive door. IF I have to personally fix it later it won't be that big of a deal. Fortunately my hood, tailgate, and both rear doors are spot free. Not to say it won't eventually occur but seems like it occurs pretty quickly.

Mine is a 2019 also and was built in the spring of the year. Dealer's wife used it for a few months as a demo and then I purchased it with 4K miles. It did see salt for two winters but I keep it and undercarriage washed. Last winter, it was stored inside. These bubbles did not appear until recently.

It has zero to do with your environment.. it's a prep issue from the manufacturer.

i don't blame FCA or jeep for this.. they were pressured to start using aluminum panels and weight savings..

SAFETY matters above all else now

Regardless the material, it must be properly prepped prior to painting. For the price of these units, a well done prep and paint speaks volumes a few years down the road. By the way, I did not know that the doors were now aluminum.

I went to the dealership last friday about bubbles on hinges, bottom of doors and hood. They took pictures, sent me to the bodyshop for an estimate and they told me they would get back to me within 2-3 weeks.
The bodyshop manager said she was sure jeep would pay to have my jeep fixed, but she said the bubbles will keep coming back in other places. My jeep was the 5th one she had seen with the same issue.

What the solution here? trade it in? I love my jeep but when the warranty runs out, there's no way I want to pay to have rust removed.
Well, they won't rust per se. The doors and hinges are aluminum. But I don't think we are seeing people who have had theirs done and then they bubble again.

The JK had same door and hinge material. The issue is that they paint them with the hinges attached. So, water seeps between the hinge and the door and you get the issue we are seeing here.

I think there's been people in this thread that have had repeat issues. IRL I know of someone who has had repeated issues and just got rid of their Jeep because they were tired of dealing with it after two fixes.

Really? I hadn't seen that.

I don't have any issues with my paint but I just yanked my hinges off and LineX'd. Hopefully I won't see bubbling cause it definitely won't be covered. Lol.

That explains the rather orange peel look in some recessed handle and hinge areas. I had 3 JKs, one JKU and two, two door models, all were Rubicons and all were exposed to nasty roads as I used them for work. NONE of them rusted.

JLs aren't rusting either. IIRC, the JK seeped white shit from its hinges, the JL is doing same thing except it's causing paint to bubble.

Never had any hinge or paint issues on the JKs myself. One white, one red and one maroon, forget the name of the color, but it was very rich looking.

Just saw this thread on my FB feed. Lots of people in there have said they have had repeat issues too.
