My baby is at the dealer for the clutch recall, so they gave me this to tool around in. It is a Mojave. Man, is it cool. Absolutely love it.

Gladiator Mojave gives me palpitations...!

There appears to be a glut of them. Cargurus shows hundreds of them. I think FCA overestimated demand....or failed to market it properly...

I’m afraid to test drive one and then want to buy it.

My local dealer said they are selling the hell out of them. They have some inventory but he said they are steady sellers right now. They have no Wranglers, though. They said some come in looking for a Wrangler and drive out in a Gladiator.

It may be a regional thing. They may sell well here and not so well somewhere else. I'm seeing more and more of them on the road now. I'd love to have one in addition to my JLUR, but I won't give up my Jeep. They are trying to get me to trade in on this one. Love it, but no.

Yeah, a desert runner has little practical use here in the Pacific Northwest.

The reviews I’ve seen online absolutely loved the suspension.

Yeah, the suspension is GREAT! It is a little stiffer than a Rubi, but handles great. I took it out on a very rough country road and it really keeps its composure. If I had one and set it up as an overlander, I could live with the Mojave. It still has the rear locker. But I really would miss the swaybar disconnect. But you could set it up to manually disconnect.

I hate to open yet another topic about the Lego. But this one has been bugging me for a while, and it has more to do with suspension. And I got reminded about it today when I was playing with my sport with rubi suspension and the wife asked me how the articulation works.

So SFA is pretty straightforward. left wheel assembly is connected to the right wheel through a solid axle, when one wheel goes up due to off-level ground a force is compressing the spring (side up) and that force is transferred to the other side, extending the other spring (which has a preload + the other force on opposit dir) and offering support to the jeep which adds stability and keeps both tires on the ground. In simpler terms, one side goes up, the other one goes down. But I think it is important to remember the force transfer because it is critical in vehicle stability.

Now how in the hell, what did Ford pull to claim better articulation than a rubicon. With an IFS both sides are independent by definition, there is no force being transferred, so what is pushing the other wheel down? is it a preload? is it simple gravity?.

Maybe I am wrong, but greater articulation doesn't necessarily mean increased stability. You can "push" the other wheel down so it touches the ground which helps with traction, but you cannot get the same articulation benefits of a SFA.

Somoene please explain this. It is driving me crazy.

Articulation doesn't solve the problem of bad clearance from IFS...

I know this. but on IFS theres no force transfer like on a SFA. Which means, sure the other tire will drop due to pre load on the spring. Even though the spring can theoretically have more travel (longer spring or wtver) it doesnt mean youll get the stability a SFA offers. Thats how I look at it, but I am not sure if thats right. Basically, the Bronco will give a tippy ride.

gotta think baja 1000 trucks. long arm travel really does help and you can get a crap ton of travel but it doesnt come without a hefty price tag and alot of bad cv joints

I heard the new bronco also makes you lunch on the trail.
Yes. And it claims to be high French cuisine when it really is McDonalds in a fancy wrapper.

I edited my first reply @entropy so you may want to re-read it. Tried to make it simpler, but this is a complex topic on physics essentially.

How this all relates to Bronco is also a factor of what is Ford touting by claiming a better than Jeep articulation. I haven't seen their claim, so I don't know. Are they talking bump travel, total shock travel or actual wheel travel or are they talking RTIs which are heavily dependent upon not only the ramp's angle but also the angle from which you approach the ramp AND if you have passengers, whether you do it forward or backwards, etc.?

A lot of this stuff is just marketing and I doubt there's a real scientific, repeatable standard that manufacturers are using with regards to the RTI stuff.
This screen shot was taken from a road and track article quoting Gavin McGee, a vehicle dynamics engineer on the bronco.
