You could start a side business making and selling them. Shipping for the cost of a stamp! Youd undercut them big time and show those greedy bastards how its done!

You know its expensive to ship things right? And that "Free Prime shipping" on Amazon isnt actually free right? No one is raping you on shipping charges, they just shouldnt be expected to lose money on shipping, if they offer free shipping on high dollar purchases its because they have already figured in shipping costs into their profit on those orders.

Its insane the entitlement of the average consumer these days.
What are you, the mailman or something?

Entitlement? That's ridiculous to even suggest that.

$15 shipping on an $18 product that weighs a few ounces is excessive. If you think not, then that's fine. Spend your money the way you want. I offered a simple solution that would have taken a few minutes. I run a large organization and I empower people to solve simple problems all day every day. They just have to think outside the box. But this one is solvable with a procedure, too. I offered a simple solution that would have taken 10 minutes, tops, using existing resources that every office has.

It is insane that you think paying nearly 100% of the cost of the product in shipping is reasonable.
You ever tried to order a single bolt from Mopar?

Meanwhile, Bestop executives are in an emergency meeting discussing changes to their business model and how to get in front of this PR debacle. Stand by for some sweeping changes.

I need a new mid-bead for a shotgun I own. It is a low volume fairly expensive gun so they are not shipping large volumes of products all over the country. Shortly after getting it, (Stills thousands of rounds down the barrel though) the mid bead fell out. I went to their website to order a new mid-bead. The part costs $2.99 and shipping is $13. I agree that it is ridiculous. I also asked if they could just put it in an envelope. They also would not. I agree with the OP on this issue. I have had other businesses that had small items that showed high shipping charges on their site adjust them when asked about it.

Even a relatively high-volume company like Bestop still gets postal mail delivered and picked up every day. It's not like the part would have to be driven to the post office by an employee. They are not running routine daily mail through the shipping department.

As to the mid-bead, I am having a local dealer include one in their next order from the gun company. OP you may want to talk to a local dealer that carries Bestop and see if they can get the straps you need included with an order they are already making.

Absolutely understand your frustration and this is an excellent example of why the postal system is dying. The probabe reason that they insist on shipping through a ‘private’ courier is tracking and delivery assurance. Way too many instances of scams, improper delivery, etc. that a company either can’t be compensated for or is way too expensive to get tracking using the postal system. FedEx, UPS, etc. either offer delivery assurance included or for way less than the postal system.
Except the USPS' flat rate envelopes etc are VERY easy and economical to do this with. They even have very good APIs that can be as simple as a button click in whatever ERP bestop is using - I've done it personally.

It could be worse... I once ordered some 80/20 from a distributor that was literally next door to my office - where I had it delivered. They no-joke rented the warehouse space we didn't use from our half of the building for their overflow. Their SOP still required them to ship it to me via FedEX.
