I’m gonna drag my feet, kicking and screaming before giving up ICE…..Until they have a charging station as frequently as there’s gas stations and you’re able to charge it up in the same amount of time as fueling up, you can count my happy ass OUT…..

Wow, if they come out with a manual electric I’d be interested. All that torque on a manual sounds very fun. This coming from a guy that swore he would never drive an electric.

The EV has its place. But unless they get the battery miles up it is worthless as a battery only vehicle. I had a 4xe I could go 30 miles on a charge Not good

While I doubt it would happen, an optimistic part of me is hopeful that they will release a 2 door electric Wrangler with a manual transmission. I would by one in a heartbeat.

I've never even driven an EV, but I'm not as reluctant as many on here. The part I'll miss most are the visceral aspects to the ICE: smell, vibration, sound. Completely linear delivery and dead quiet operation might prove to be boring.

My long-term plan is to convert my JLUR to electric, but only when solid-state batteries are available and they have had a few years of development to reduce their weight (they should be 60-70% lighter than cell-based batteries), range is close to what I get now , and the charging is under 10 minutes from 5% to 95%. I also want an axial-flux motor due to efficiency gains and tunable power/torque curve.

The current cell-based BEVs being sold are already obsolete and will be close to worthless when solid-state is out in force. After reading about the caveats to the Rivian R1S completing the Rubicon trail, BEVs will not be ready to replace off-road vehicles for probably 5 years minimum.

The Rivian's were towed to the Loon Lake trailhead since they couldn't have completed the 18-miles of the trail if they had to drive from the nearest charging station. They also needed a modified Wrangler to winch them over all the major obstacles. Two of the three Rivian's broke and the Jeep pulled them off the Rubicon to be towed to a repair facility. The Rivian that didn't break used 75% battery charge to go 18-miles.

Agreed…. Only way I would use one, if I trailered it and brought a generator… then pray I didn’t go to far as to not make it back for a reboot ,…..?

I think these conversions would be the way to go, electric without all the baggage and gimmicks that seems to be getting worse and worse with EVs.

"But what it seems like Jeep is trying to make clear is that the eventual Wrangler EV will be very much a Wrangler and it won't be half-assed."

Charging experience is very different from person to person.

Someone with access to a simple 110v outlet, and doesn't exhaust the range daily will find charging easier and less time consuming than pumping gas, plug in, go to sleep, wake up to a fully charged vehicle everyday.

Long distance is kinda sorted out with the manufacturers abandoning the ? chargers the government is sinking billions into for Tesla chargers.

Yeah…. My reference was more out on the trail…..my luck I would misjudge it so I’d have to push it back the last mile… …..?
