Hi everyone, I’m still pretty new and was going to get a winch installed. Does anyone know if this would work on a 2024 4xe Rubicon? If not why and what should I be looking for?

Yes. Any winch that works on any jeep will also work on the 4xe. The 4xe has a traditional 12V car battery under the hood just like any other jeep, and the winch connects to it the same way as any other jeep.

I think that's an 8k winch, which is fine, but the 4xe is a heavy mofo so I personally went with a 12k just because I figure anything worth doing is worth overdoing. 8k will probably be fine though.

At the risk of possibly stating the obvious, be aware that if you got the standard plastic bumpers, not the optional steel bumpers, you'll need to buy some sort of winch cradle or a new bumper because the plastic bumper can't accept a winch as is.

Rule of thumb is your winch should be double your weight so I would NOT go with a 8k winch and you should at least go 10k or 12k is even better.
Your profile pic looks like you have steel bumpers but you DON'T have a winch plate unless you specifically ordered that from factory which I highly doubt. Warn sells winch plates which are overpriced for what they are. There are other winch plates out there for far less.

Thanks, yes I have the steel bumper so I know I need to get a mounting plate when I get the winch just wasn’t sure if there was something special about the 4xe or not. I think it’s because I contacted the parts department at my dealer with some questions and he thought that winch won’t work. I would get a better one but having a hard time finding one locally (I’m in Canada). I did find a few online but they are all from the states which shipping and duties were way too high.

The problem is the 4XE is heavy and it gets even heavier when stuck. You could overload an 8k winch which would be a waste of money and would make a bad situation worse.

Just keep asking and we will keep answering :) I have a buddy in Montreal and I feel for him because as you noted you guys get screwed on buying stuff from US.

Since you haven’t responded to others I reinforce, go bigger than 8K for a few more bucks. The 8K became popular in the 2,700 lb CJ days. Your 4Xe weighs ~ twice as much.

A fully loaded overlanding build on 4xe will weigh around 6000-6500lb, heck even the lightest 4xe configurations hover around 5750+

I would advise getting a 12k pound capacity winch if possible. 8k winches are ok for light jeeps like TJs etc.. gas engine JKs and JLs usually call for 10k winches as bare min given their weight.

Unfortunately, most winch plates are expensive. I can vouch that this one is on the more affordable side and fits the steel bumper but definitely shop around, it weighs about 22 lbs.

Winch Plate - https://americantrailproducts.com/JL-JT-Winch-Plate-System-_p_87.html

Some of the frame bolts for the steel bumper are a pain to get a torque wrench on, I ended up using both a 18mm shallow and deep sockets, a swivel socket, and socket extensions depending on the bolt.

Torque specs for the frame bolts
Front bumper support bracket nuts | 20 Nm | 15 ft. lbs
Front bumper to frame nuts | 90 Nm | 66 ft. lbs

Do you have any 4x4 shops in the area? Here in California I can't spit out my front door without it hitting a retail store that sells winches. I live in a dinky rural town of 5000 people and there are probably still 30 places to buy winches in a 25 mile radius.

Unfortunately there aren’t many shops around here and like I said most winches I found online are coming from the states. I’m still searching around to see if I can find something local and so far there might be one place that has a 12k warn evo winch
