That's interesting! We found that the V6 has more evenly distributed power, wheras the 2L has more up front (faster to go, but slower at high speeds). To me this made the V6 feel smooth and steady, but the 2L felt FAR more zippy. If you're comparing 0-60 though, the V6 was SLIGHTLY faster (I think it was just under a second) to reach 60 but the power was all between 40-60, wheras the 2L Turbo was between 10-40. I do a lot of city driving, so for me the 2L was WORLDS more fun for me to drive than the V6.
I think we are agreeing. The 2.0L is very fast from the standstill but on the highway it feels like you can accelerate much quicker from, lets say, 60 to 70. I have not done a high speed test so I can't say which is faster. In the end, they are pretty close. I would agree with the word "fun" to drive. It just seems more fun, zippy, etc vs the V6.......... but I understand it's not for everyone.

I rented a Sahara with the 2.0 etorque and purchased the 3.6 etorque. As peppy as the 2.0 is, I just cant get over the sound it makes in the context of sling-shotting a large vehicle. The 3.6 subjectively sounds more natural for the equivalent workload in the Jeep.

FWIW: Even though the gearing and (auto) shift points are the same, the differences in the redline are interesting when you consider acceleration. I remember hearing that when drag racing, you want to be at the top of a gear at the end of the run so that the shift doesn't slow you down. There was also some muscle car that was famous for a fast 0-60 time, which they achieved by actually going with a numerically lower gear ratio so that they only had to shift once.

Even though the 3.6 & 2.0 are geared the same, the lower RPM range of the 2.0 means the gears don't last as long when accelerating.

At 60MPH:
3.6 Rubicon = 3rd gear @ 5500 RPM. When ignoring 0-idle, that is about about 80% "revved up"
2.0 Rubicon = 3rd gear @ 5500 RPM. When ignoring 0-idle, that is about about 94% "revved up"

3.6 Sport = 3rd gear @ 4800 RPM. When ignoring 0-idle, that is about about 70% "revved up"
2.0 Sport = 3rd gear @ 4800 RPM. When ignoring 0-idle, that is about about 81% "revved up"

Saharas and Sports are fun and economical with the 2.0, but not on the Rubicon with 33" tires and 4:10 gears, as equipped from the factory

That was my experience as well test driving the V6 and the 2.0T back-to-back.

Interesting topic, i had 2018 3.6 and now have a 2020 Willys 2.0, window sticker still states premium fuel. In my experience when at high speed lets say 70 or so, when you needed more from the 3.6 it wasn't there, all noise no guts. The 2.0 is different it is there when you need it. Another thing is i can actually stay in 8th gear and getting great mileage. I haven't been off road yet with the 2.0 just got it a few days ago, so that could change my opinion. I will admit when standing near the exhaust it reminds me of my dads 73 vw.

My 2 cents. I loved my 2.0 until I added 34s with a 2 inch lift. My millage dropped by almost 50 percent. It's now better in the city for millage than the highway.[/QUOT
what tires are you running?

I'm actually really impressed with the mileage I get in my 2.0 JLR. I average about 19 MPG and drive it at least 70 MPH for 20 miles just about every day it gets driven. Above 70 MPH the mileage definitely suffers, but so does the steering so it usually doesn't get driven much faster than that anyway.

Your 19 MPG is pretty average for most people driving with 3.6 as well.....

I am getting 18-19.5 mpg in mixed driving with the 3.6 in my JLR. If the Turbo was 24 mpg, it would’ve made more sense to got that route. Assuming it is only 2-3 mpg better, it doesn’t make up for the fuel cost of running premium, or the added expense of the 30k spark plug change intervals vs the 3.6.

Most people don't drive like me.

My statement about mileage was in response to the quote below, not in opposition to the 3.6.

FYI: it's 60k for the plugs, and you don't have to run premium.
