They are pretty big in the motorcycle world right now and make tons of power for their size.
You brought back memories of my neighbor’s Kawasaki 2 stroke triple. It was definitely a bad ass.
I withdraw my 3 banger statement!
I have two 3 cyl Kubota tractors, I guess my personal 3 cyl experience is a little skewed 🤪

Maybe, but I doubt 3’s because of the balance issues you mentioned earlier.
I look forward to them sounding even shittier than they do already.
Well. We can agree that the FIA has ruined F1 for the fans. It is now simply a VIP/celebrity/advertiser jerk circle.

F1 should just have 3 rules:
1 - Size - Max/Min dimensions of the car, tires, engine displacement, etc
2 - Safety gear/structure.
3 - Fuel - pump fuel, no refueling, max fuel on board (that is how you restrict power).

Let the builders build the cars to those rules and innovate.

Did anyone ever figure this out yet?? 😁

Really not sure why the JL/JT only has the boring "good enough" minivan engines and the $70k+ 392 models, but nothing at all in-between. The diesel's gone, the 4xe is gone. Why not a 2.0T with the SRT tune, the 3.6L with an electric supercharger (+tune), a reasonably-priced 5.7L, or even that new 3.0TT I6 with either standard or H.O. profiles. Heck, offer at least 2 or 3 of those things and maybe even make one of them standard.

I'm sure a lot of buyers would spend an extra $3,500 to $5,000 (probably more) for a mid-range towing/performance option that isn't a 392 at Vette pricing.
Diesel is gone because it was a junk engine and warranty nightmare. Modern Diesels, with all the emissions junk simply do not work on light duty vehicles. Again, it was just Jeep foolishly following the forum die hards to another financial disaster.

4xe ditto - it was a horrible and unsafe powertrain.

Supercharge the 3.6? Are you serious? The engine barely clears 30K miles without needing new valvetrain at standard power.

The Hurricane T4 in the Grand Cherokee is the up power option for the Wrangler. It is doing it's teething debut there, and will be in the next gen Wrangler for sure. 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque is no joke.

My last car had that much power. And it was just a car.. not a 5,000lb+ body on frame off-road truck with a fucking tow hitch.

Good grief, ya'll will do anything to justify the only 2 piss-poor excuses for engines that we're allowed to buy in a $35k to $60k+ vehicle. Other manufacturers offer mid-range ~400HP/TQ options. It's been a thing forever now, and more customer choice is a good thing imo and I'm sure Jeep will still allow you to buy whatever budget-friendly Fiat-designed turbo 4-banger they're sticking in their Euro cars.

This is irrelevant lol.

My 97 4Runner had 185 horsepower out of a v6 and was 4000lbs and was fine. Gearing is what matters. 300 is plenty for these things. Is more nice? Sure but people have gotten way too unrealistic about how much power they require on a daily basis. It’s actually hilarious.

I have a 2018 Jeep 3.6 auto and a 2018 Ram 1500 work truck with 3.6 auto…. My question is how and why is the Ram 3.6 quieter and more horsepower than the 3.6 in my jeep ? Also, why couldn’t they put the 300 hp ram 3.6 in the jeep ? Oh, to add to my confusion, the ram takes 6 quarts and Jeep takes 5…. @alphawolff it sounds like you work for Jeep, maybe you can way in here? …thanks….

Finally a post from someone who lives in reality. This is going to get attacked relentlessly because it's so painfully true.

The amount of apologizing for and justifying two engines that suck on this site is hilarious.

Well I believe the oil quarts is due to the oil pan size/shape. IFS won't require as much space as the SFA does. Gotta have room for the uptravel.

one reason I have read is exhaust routing. more room to run exhaust in the ram perhaps.

All the guys that cant build a fast car and can now just buy one in anything are driving this "need" for hp. Cars are getting more boring, more samey, and the tuner/performance/saturday night parking lot scene are just old dudes and insta wanna be influencers in their Chargers/Challengers/392s jerking each other off.

JK takes 6 quarts with the same engine and suspension.

JL frame, motor mounts, and trans combos are different though. Very likely the engine isn't mounted the same height above the suspension in the JK as the JL.
