Legal in Wa. , a CARB state ? It isn’t here in Ca, I checked before getting a 392 because I would rather have a 2dr. Would be fun if you can, albeit expensive. Good Luck ?

When I checked with an in state shop in 21 that did swaps and prominently showed a 392/JL swap that was Not Legal For Use On Public Roadways. The latest Approved swap at the time was a 5.7 truck engine/JK swap. Perhaps it could be done with difficulty but if not approved, big problem.

I have a friend that is a retired 4x4 magazine editor, from back in the day when they had magazines in print, on paper. He always had some exotic vehicle that had been loaned to him to use for a few weeks to do a write up on. One time he called me and said come over and check out this Jeep I just got. It was a 2 door JK with a tuned 6.4 Hemi in it from Dakota Customs. It made something like 550 hp. We went for a drive in it, and after a few miles he pulled over and said, "here, you drive it for a while".
That Jeep was an absolute blast to drive. It was perfect, with that much power, and the handling of a 2 door. It had a lift and 35" tires on it as well. I liked everything about it. And that Jeep was the impetus for me ordering an AEV JKUR with a 6.4 Hemi conversion. The 6.4 Hemi JK was awesome as well, but not like the 2 door. Both of those Jeeps with 6.4 Hemi's were also the reason I snatched up a 392 XR as soon as they hit the dealerships.
If you can afford it, do it. You won't be disappointed.

I have VERY disappointed that Jeep has all but abandoned the Jeep that put FCA where they are today, 2003 TJR SWB. Did not even GET a 20th Annversay out of them, no XR package, nothing...

As a guy who has had his ass planted behind the steering wheel of a Jeep since 65, we have been left out of the goodie bag. I loved Jeep since 1948 in Post WWII Germany, when Dad came home and he pulled up in a Military jeep no doors and wow how neat was that and asked my dad if his driver cold take me around the block. The driver said get in kid and I did that was neatest thing in world.

I would stand out side when dad was coming home just get a ride in the Jeep, I loved it and still do...
