On my Rubicon I get about 21~22 MPG and I have a heavy foot. As for Smiles Per Gallon I agree! Every time I do a U turn I grin from ear to ear. The turning radius on these things is outstanding! Also the 4 door reminds me too much of a soccer mom vehicle.

Have you and your wife driven both? No matter what you read on the intranets, real world experience is what matters to you. For me, I'm lucky that I've driven all sorts of Jeeps and knew that the 2 door is what I wanted. I honestly could care less about mpg, as we all know, Jeeps are not bought for fuel efficiency. If it was just that, there are many other cheaper options out there that will out do any Jeep any day for efficiency.
We’ve rented a 4dr for a week and really enjoyed it. Before the time comes to buy I fully intend to hunt down a 2dr rental as well. Mostly to see how it feels living with the limited cargo space. I have driven a TJ 2 door years ago, so not really a good comparison.

And the mpg isn’t really a make or break in any way. I was just kind of curious and figured the crowd here would know. As expected, the detailed information has been very helpful.

Also, remember, they will stop making the 2 door. How do I know? Because I bought one. I have the Midas touch for buying something and they stop selling it here in the US. My 2003 Eurovan, last year for it. My 2017 Alltrack (2019 last year for it). My old Fiat Abarth, gone. I expect that Jeep sees the Vincent Flag come up and thus they will stop making it or at least stop selling it in the US. Then 10 years down the road, parts will become NLA and you have to hoard them (like I did with the Eurovan). 4 door might be the way to go.

Totally bogus anecdote. Wheeled Saturday with a JKR and a JKUR. We were laying out a new route so constantly stopped to inspect the lines. The other two guys kept their rigs idling. I figure my JLR has ESS, I might as well turn it off. They each burned 1/2 tank, I burned 1/4 tank. Coming home I hit 3 long lights and the ESS worked like magic. ESS is a joke compared to my electric car, but if you rarely use it, I find it fun. Amazing how fast it starts up.

By far the best thing about ESS is it broke me of my habit, leave it running.

I have a 2 door and I haven't gotten near 20 miles to gallon on a tank, best I have done is 18.

We have 2020 2dr Sport S with 2.0L and automatic. First trip was about 300 miles and it averaged 29.6mpg. Only one person and a very light load....We were thrilled with the performance and mileage.....

I have a 21’ 2 Door JLR with a 6-Speed 3.6L and my mom has a 21’ 4 Door JLU Sahara with a 2.0L Auto. My Jeep will get about 20 mpg on the highway when stock and hers will consistently get mid 20s... I actually picked hers up in Louisiana and drove it back for her just before thanksgiving and was surprised by the fuel economy.

I know apples to oranges. But it’s the only personal experience I have.

One thing to consider, while they get similar miles the 4 door has a bigger tank so has a little more range.

My 20 JL 2.0 on Rubi takeoffs is fantastic on fuel economy. Typically running 24-25 mixed local and Interstate. My old TJ, 4.0 was a 16 mpg rig. Also had a 4 cyl TJ with stick and it too was 16 mpg (and had to downshift to hold interstate speed in IOWA?

2dr stick. Bone stock, seat in, one person I get 25-27.5 on my hour drive to and from work every day. I never would thought my WRANGLER would be my best gas mileage vehicle

My 2019 2 door Rubicon with the 3.6 and 8 speed auto is getting between 17-18 mpg in the city and 23-24 mpg on the highway as long as I stay below 65 mph. Anything above 65 mph and the fuel economy starts dropping fast.

My Soccer Mom Minivan ;) with the 3.6L engine on 37s and 4:88 gears get between 16-17 average mpgs. (Heavy foot) If I drive like a decent human being, didn't use remote start to warm up the minivan (the boogers will complain its too cold) and didn't add all the weight from the stupid mods to get the kids to the field (I cant stand their whining) , I'd say I would be getting closer to 20mpgs. ROFL. I crack myself up. Or maybe they made me crazy.......

Bone stock 2022 JLR with the 2.0L. My daily commute is rush hour on the North Texas tollway and I average around 18-19mpg with that driving.

If I drive ~70mph without varying speed much on a relatively flat road I get about 21-22mpg.

Only city driving with lots of stops and starts I probably get around 17-18mpg.

Not sure that I’m fully broken in, but my engine has about 2,000 miles on it.

Have had my 2019 2d Sport with the 4 cylinder for almost a year now. It had over 50000 miles on it when I got it. RIght off the bat I was getting 22 to 26 mpg on the computer. I traded in a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek that was getting 20-26 for me. (again with the computer) Both vehicles were total stock.

I drive my 2 door for a week and the drivers seat won't return to the upright position. Take it back to the dealer and they cannot fix and had to order parts. I had the option for a Gladiator or a 4 door Rubicon. I was new to Jeep but not new to Jeep pickups, so I chose the 4 door Rubicon. It had less than 4000 miles. and the same motor as my 2door.

I never got over 22 mpg for the month I had the Rubicon, of course it had larger tires and wheels a hard top and a couple other things that came standard on that model. What I noticed right away was the 2 liter seemed to struggle with the added weight of the 4 door. Certainly didn't have the git up and go. I was certainly happy to have my 2019 back when they said it was fixed. It's more than MPG it's how it feels in the drivers seat for me.
