So basically a 2dr is great for going to the mall? Easy to park and maneuver in tight spots. It is the same width as the gladiator and the JLUR, it is just shorter, so like maybe three turns or so on the trail it is better.

Definitely buy the 2dr or lease it so that after you find out why less than 10% of wranglers that are sold are 2dr model you can transition back easily.

To me the 2dr is a niche vehicle market. It is not something you want to drive everyday, still cool mind you, and is only beneficial about 5% of the time on the trail. For every benefit it has, you have to compromise on 90% of the other areas.
Disagree with the "not something you want to drive everyday" comment. Personally, I never considered an Unlimited as I don't care for the look of a "stretched 2-door"Jeep and have always been partial to 2-seater cars (back seat gone on day #1). I love driving my 2-door when I'm not driving my Porsche...It's fun, and while I'm not an avid off-roader, it is my beach ride, and provides great enjoyment on the beach and on the road. My guess is the majority of 4-door buyers do so only because of needed space for family, etc. and wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't for that need, the preference would be for the classic 2-door.

Two door, remove the back seat (if you can for your situation), and a small utility trailer for truck stuff. Done.

That being said haha... the two door is not going to ride as nice as the 4 door or the gladiator.

However, it is really awesome in tight parking lots, and things like that. And way more of a "fun" "sports car" feel.
And here in the northeast at least, it is awesome off-road because our trails are very tight, and being small and nimble is a very good thing.
try to find one around and go for a test drive is the only way to know :like:
This ?

I had a 97 and 98 TJ, and a 12 2dr Rubicon. Loved every minute of it, but fly fishing necessitated 4 doors. My 22 Gladiator rode amazing but was too long. My 23 JLU Willys in Earl is the best option for my situation…my $0.02 ?

So basically by your own writing, you don’t drive it every day and it is not your daily driver. Got it.

Brilliant deduction...I do drive it every day...Porsche has VERY low miles on it. Camaro? Got it?

I disagree completely regarding compromising. To me, the four door is the “compromise” vehicle and that’s exactly why it sells in higher numbers than the more niche two door.

Examples: I wanted a jeep, but couldn’t get one until the Unlimited was released in 2007 because…

-I have two dogs!
-I have a wife and kid!
-I have to tow 3500 lbs!
-I have to be able to carry sheet rock that’s exactly the size of the 4 door Jeep’s cargo area!
-Grandma can’t be expected to climb into the back of a two door!
-I buy three month’s worth of groceries at a time at Costco and that doesn’t fit in a two door!
-Etc.

People would buy a two door jeep but can’t justify it from a practical standpoint… so they compromise and get the bigger jeep.

It just depends on your perspective.

We almost bought a 2nd Jeep, a Jk 2dr. Then decided to go to the different side of the vehicle spectrum.
When we’re are home we pull this out of storage for fun.

If you already own a Jeep, I can guarantee that this is more fun than a second Jeep. And it has a v8 that I can avg 26 mpg for normal driving and 30+ mpg when hyw driving. Ut is a great touring car when the Jeep stays home.

Nice stable you've got there @wibornz !

I can 100% confirm the fun factor of driving a V8 Camaro :)

My daily is a 2019 2 door JL Rubicon, but I also have a 2010 SC572 Callaway Camaro (6.2L V8 with a 2.3L Eaton Supercharger). Both vehicles are completely impractical if you have more than 2 people in your household, but they are both a blast to drive, and I would not get rid of either of them.

I have not had a 2 door since my golden eagle in 1977.

I could not help but adore this photo❤. I took the time to clean up the dirt/scratches and noise.

IMO, this is what owning a Jeep is all about.

My jeep is now the daily driver…. Kind of. When we get home from five months of traveling, it will probably get parked. If, I pull the Camaro out of storage.

I think the jeep and Camaro are are the far side from each other on the spectrum of vehicles. Both fun for their own reasons.

Tell you what, - how 'bout I be your huckleberry? Come on down and let's see. Oh, and I do drive mine every day.

And, Ralph's right to want that Golden Eagle back. There really is nothing like wheelin' a 2-door.

Do you even wheel that 2dr? Not a scratch one on your bead lock rings or a single scratch on your rock sliders. Make me wonder. Like do you just run the easy trails?

I wheel all over the US what is come on down mean. I am in Yuma area currently and will be heading to the east coast in about six weeks before heading back to Michigan for a few weeks then heading to Alaska for a few months.

For some reason you all are trying to defend the 2dr to me. I like 2dr Jeeps. They are great for wheeling. They have their own strengths and weaknesses just as the 4dr jeep does. That does not change the fact that they are a niche market. The only thing keeping the 2dr around is the 4dr models are so profitable, that Jeep can continue to build the 2dr.

I doubt the cost to keep the 2dr line running is very profitable for Jeep.

I started off with a JT Sport S as my first Jeep. Loved it. During the whole retarded covid thing I looked into the 4xe because it's neat and would work out well for me in my situation as far as not having to pay for much fuel or to charge it (would charge at work).

During my test drive I was pretty sure I wanted a soft top as my JT's hard top limited the amount of times I took it all the way off. None of the 4xes or 4-doors had a soft top but a 2-door on the lot did. I took that 1 test drive in the 2-door and fell in love immediately. It was the opposite of what I was looking for but I fell for it.

I also realized that from owning my JT I didn't want the Pentastar again. It's fine but it's just kinda eh, and so far I'm really loving my decision to get my 2.0T :D If you can do it I would say the 2 door is the way to go. I'm giving my JT to my brother and I have my JLR now. Took out the back seat so I have some storage space. It is my DD and don't get how people say it's so much worse on the road than a JLU or a JT, it's just not.

I'll also note that it's just me in the JLR, no gf/wife/kids to have to worry about. If there was a 4xe 2 door I would have loved that lol. And to people saying it weighs so much less, the difference between a JLUR and JLR is around 200lbs, not a lot. The difference in price is negligible at this price point of around $1500 maybe, less I think (if that breaks you maybe don't buy a new vehicle?). The JLU has a huge advantage in aftermarket parts unfortunately.

what is come on down mean
We could go wheelin! My 2-door and your 4-door. Well, and any of the yahoos on here that want to come too. I just found a place from one of the guys on here:

https://hardrockoffroadpark.net/4x4-vehicle

I haven't been - I just rolled this JL out of the garage. I haven't even tested it yet. Well, I've had it on the beach where I pulled a 3/4 ton 4 door chevy out and I also pulled out a Winnebago. Both stuck up to their bellies in the sand. But I've just gotten the wiring all finished up so it runs reliably now.

And those rims are brand new, Richard. Less than a month old!
