How does the ground clearance get to 10.8 (from base 9.7)?
The 285/70s get about half of it --how about the rest?
Is it just the Rubicon springs or is there some other lift component?
Thanks.
Ordered a 4-door and just thinking while waiting.
Yeah, I picked a user name before my '24 Willys decision (maybe I should edit to NotRubi -- probably can't).

Realistically a meaningless number, but I think the sports come with tires that calc at 30.5”, so it’s probably all tire.

I'm seeing 245/75R17 = 31.47" diameter, and 285/70R17 = 32.71; diff = 1.24; 1.24/2 = 0.62."
Ground clearance diff is 1.1; 0.62 from 1.1 leaves .48"

Mostly tire, but the other thing could be the different rear axle. The dana 35 in sport or sport s Jeeps may hang lower than the Dana 44 in the Willys. The ground clearance is measured at the lowest point so I would assume rear diff.

Rest is probably the squish difference between the P tire SL load and the LT tire C load.

2024 Willys have D44/M210 (front) and D44/M220 (rear) wide axles, like a Rubicon, except the front one has no locker. It has the same springs as a Rubicon, the same tires, the same fenders. Essentially it's a 2018-2023 Rubicon with no sway bar disconnect, no front locker and no 4.1 transfer case.

So, it will have the same stance on overall dimensions as a non XR Rubicon. Its a very significant upgrade over the 2023 and earlier non XR Willys.

Good question though,

The only thing that can improve ground clearance is tire height, and 285s are only about 1" taller than the 245s, and that only amounts to 1/2" more clearance, so the math comes out to 10.2" of ground clearance, just base on tires specs.

2024 Willys have... no 4.1 transfer case.
I'm new to this:
The November build pages (and window stickers I've seen) show 4.10 rear axle ratio as part of the Willys package. Is that something different from "4.1 transfer case?"

Tires, lowest point in the axle. The only way to raise the axle is Tire.

Yeah, that was my question.
How could it get to 10.8" -- does the diff sit higher? or is the 10.8 bogus? Or something else? (As mentioned above, less squish of burlier tire might be it) This 10.8" claim also applies to the stock Rubicons as I understand it.

Standard Rubicon and the 24 Willys both have the same tires so The listed ground clearance for them should be the same.

Maybe that’s with the tires inflated to 45 PSI like the way they are delivered new.
