Please explain the point of the folding windscreen...is it just an off road thing?

Its handy when you want to put a hospital cot across the passenger seat

I had some old jeeps that we could literally fold down in seconds. We’d drive around and get all sorts of debris in our faces. Lots of fun.

Today, I’m sure there are folks who like to take the top and doors off and fold the windshield down, maybe to cruise the beach or the malls. I really appreciate the fact that Jeep has gone to the trouble to make this easy to do on the JLs. But I doubt I’ll ever do it that often. Especially here in Florida where it rains pretty much every day.

I did it for weeks at a time in the summer. It's super easy and a fun experience..like riding my motorcycle but inside the Jeep. Definitely wear some sunglasses or goggles, though

I've folded down the windshield a few times and plan on continuing to do so.

Some people fold it, some don’t. Some people remove doors, others don’t. Some people like hard tops, others soft. The point is that you have the option. You can’t say that with any other vehicle.

The folding windshield is something that Jeeps have had since the start. It is part of it's heritage. If they start taking things like the folding windshield away, it'll start to resemble every other vehicle.

I haven't a real reason to drop mine yet but I hear is works out well for firework shows... maybe a drive-in movie

Whatever you decide, I would not drive it with a folded down windshield on the highway. Not safe for numerous reasons. You never realize how much grit gets thrown up at your car until you ride a motorcycle down your local area major highway wearing a t-shirt. It’s like getting sandblasted. I don’t know how the front end of cars don’t look worse than they do.

And the reason Jeeps have fold down windshields in the first place is...?

(I know the answer. I just wanna see who else does.) ;-)
