I don't have any data, but I'd wager that among enthusiasts the soft top is more prevalent (hence the higher level of interest here) but among the general public I'd bet good money the hard top is more common. Around here, at least, I see at least 3 out of 4 JKs sporting hard tops.

I die a little inside, but can't argue with anecdata.

Wow I am just crazy waiting for the prices to come out. I keep imagining all these skyrocketing numbers. Last night I dreamt that the base price on a 4dr rubi with no options was 46K! The rest of the night my subconscious kept trying to figure out what to do. So here is my question and I could probably figure it out but I have to work.
Can you get a sport s with leather heated seats, 373 ( in know you can't get 410gears) and a 7 inch screen and metal bumpers by ordering ala carte. In essence a poor mans rubicon.

I think hard top vs. soft top will vary with what line of latitude folks are on. I see a lot of hard tops in Minnesota but not enough soft tops. I'm guessing that soft tops are much more prevalent in the South and Southwest. I would also guess that more enthusiasts on the forums are in those geographies too, given closer off-road availability. I guess I equate more modifications with more use of the truck for what it was designed for. I can't tell you the number of stock wranglers up here. It's kind of gross. Small tires (yes, "tires", Ape), no lift, no other mods. It's a shame how many stockers are around. I think I got a bit off-topic. Carry on.

How much space does it take to store the soft top?
I hang mine on the wall on two shelf brackets. The windows I keep in the window roll bag I use during the year. The door surrounds I put back into the Mopar box they came in and I put them on the shelf for the winter. The box is about 36"x48"x8". Window roll is as long as the rear window is tall (there are three slots to store the two side windows and the rear, roll is done basically side to side on the rear window panel). It's about 48" long and around 8" diameter.

Here's a question that I can't figure out: why did they include the 4WD Auto mode in the Rubicon transfer case. There seems to be so much demand for being able to use the 4WD Hi on the highways during inclement weather but the threads are all over the place about whether this is a terrible idea (unless there's enough slippage to provide for the easing of tension on the axles). Anybody understand this and can explain why the Rubicon missed out on Auto 4WD?

Because the transfer case ratio of the Selec-Trac is lower than the Rock-Trac the Rubi gets. The lower ratio wouldn’t fit the goals the Rubi is intended to meet. Good bet Sahara based special editions will eventually come out to offer a rear locker and metal bumpers to sort of bridge the gap.

Different transfer case. Rubicon case has always been different than any other Wrangler's case. Same here. The auto 4wd will be a different case again from say a sport with just 2H, 4H and 4L. In the day it was a NP241 and NP242

The cowl panels now have two fasteners that solely exist to bolt on aftermarket accessories. Behind the cowl panel, these bolts are supported by body structure. We are excited to see what the aftermarket does here.

This is from the Truck Trend review, what exactly are they talking about here?

So this part here is removable, and underneath are 2 anchored mounting points for racks etc that are connected to the frame, so may even support more weight than previously.

A bummer for me is that it appears that if you mount lights there, you won't be able to put the windshield down.

Yeah, not sure, you should be able to use an angle bracket to mount them outside the windshield’s path.

Does the JL have a dead pedal footrest?
Doesn't look like it. In fact it even looks like the interior panel down there is very bulky an possibly impinges on foot space.
