So on the “ steel” bumper. The plastic backing gets installed first. Then the “oracle” light goes in from the front of the bumper into the plastic housing ? OR - install the Oracle light on the plastic bracket housing and push from the inside ? I’ve tried both way on the left and its either dead blow the left opening and or grind down the Oracle light ! They are great lights when i had them on the plastic bumper. And now that I’m converting to steel it’s taking a lot of tries to get them to sit properly. Wish I knew prior … never thought the steel bumper would be a problem for these awesome backup lights
I have the steel bumper. Once you remove the retaining screw from the red OEM refector, the reflector can be removed (rearward) from the steel bumper. Then you can install (push) the Oracle lamp into the steel bumper from the back of the vehicle. It may or may not fit, depending on the stamping of the rear bumper. Mine did not fit on the left side.

Ok. If I understand you correctly the “plastic” brackets that once held the reflectors will not be used with the oracles on the steel bumper ?
will give this a try again

The plastic support which is just forward of the steel bumper stays in place. Once you install the Oracle lamp into the steel bumper you can reinstall the retaining screw through the plastic backing into the new lamp to secure the lamp. I did the entire process with the bumper on the vehicle so since installing the screw into the the Oracle lamp was difficult, I just used a silicon adhesive to secure the Lamp to the plastic backing/ support.

I can also confirm as of today that they don't fit. I just started a warranty claim with one of the oracle rep over the phone.

He emailed me this instruction video:

In the video, the guy shaves down a good amount of the edge to fit the size of the steel bumper.

I did not do this and was banging the opening on my bumper to widen it up. I got it to fit, but just 16 hours after install completion, there is an internal flaring Crack from the inside. My guess is the pressure / compression gave in. Lastly, my lights did not come with screws and so I had saw off the ends of factory stock screws of factory steel bumper to fit flush with the lights.

seems like they should be made to fit the steel bumper without modifications and al the correct hardware out of the box. Pretty disappointing, hope you get them returned. Will the stock light be able to go back in?

Considering that the light cracked under pressure allows me to assume the factory reflectors still fit. I don't intend on putting them back on, but if I do I'll update this.

Honestly, this all feels like an oracle manufacturing issue and they should recall their product.

I have those in my steel bumper. I used a die grinder to open the space up and hit it with some textured rust oleum paint, installed the lights and sealed around them with RTV. Zero issues and I’m happy with the brightness.

Like some. I filed down a bit of the inner edge on the steel bumoer. And actually on the light housing and used black rtv to seal the edges
Works perfect

As a one time exception Oracle is sending me a whole new driver side light, and I can keep my damaged one. I do have to pay for shipping though - $11.50 for California.

Did you put the RTV on the light itself or around the light while installed in the bumper?

I saw on Quadratec that Oracle supposedly beveled the edge and they now fit "some" Mopar steel bumpers. Anybody have any direct knowledge that they have improved the fit of them?

It is ridiculous that this has been an issue for this long. You would think that Oracle would have fixed this years ago by simply reducing the dimensions of their product. I guess China isn't receptive to this solution.
FWIW, I'll be the first to buy these lights if they can fix this issue but I've been saying this for 4 years. Not holding my breath.

I had two choices:

1.) Enlarge the opening is the steel bumper. The dimentions of the stamped out openings for the reflectors vary due to poor quality control. My right side was fine, but the left side was where the fit issue occured.

2.) File the left side Oracle lamp housing down until it fit.

I choose #2 since I did not want to modify the OEM bumper for some aftermarket part that did not fit properly.
