I only have 2500 miles on my rig, and I believe my ball joints are starting to fail on my 2020 eco diesel. I am thinking about doing a replacement with dynatrac HD soon. I will have to jack it up this weekend and check out the passenger side wheel.

Should be a warranty item. Mine failed at 24k on my JK and we’re replaced for free.
I really don’t think they would do a claim on my jeep. What is your thoughts? the ball joints and tie rod ends are the only stock crap left under my jeep.

The passenger wheel has a slight tilt to the top which is very in plain sight. I dont have any pics since she is up on jacks for the weight on the springs.

Well, how sure are you that you didn't bend something?

Just jack up each wheel and see if there is play. A Jeep is nothing special, failed ball joints will give you play. At least a Jeep is super easy as compsred to pickups with the lower control arm as the sprung device and thus you need two people to check it out. GM trucks are almost guaranteed to have the lowers fail inspection when they hit 60K.

Warranty depends on the dealership, some will want the work as hours are hours billable back to FCA.

My bigger question is do you want the dealership doing this job with all the aftermarket stuff you had done?

I once had the dealership replace a front axle under warranty and while I appreciate they did so and ignored the mods, it was a lot of work after to get all the aftermarket stuff put back together properly like LCA lengths, aftermarket steering linkages, etc. They clearly just bolted it off and bolted it on and cranked some stuff and then considered it done.

Mine are clicking like crazy even after I tighten them. Is replacing the ball joints a good time to also replace the knuckles with iron ones? Or are they totally separate jobs?

If you can swing it , I’d definitely do knuckles and ball joints the same time. I figured that if I was to put the dynas in the aluminum knuckles, that eventually the holes would wollar out and I’d have to remove them again. This way you won’t have to ever remove them, just rebuild them when the time comes. Also dynas are pretty cheap to rebuild, 150. 00 for all four.

Thanks.

In my case I would draw the line and not attempt to do knuckles/ball-Joints myself, so have to factor in labor. I assume significant labor savings if doing knuckles and ball-joints together vs one at a time, correct?

Anyone has part numbers for the XR iron knucles?

Yeah, definitely cut labor cost in half, doing both at same time.

Do the knuckles and ball joints at the same time. It can be scary but there are good YouTube videos to help if decide to do it yourself. Hell, I had to fix one of my ball joints that I paid a shop to install.

I will have time this weekend to double check them, the jeep been out in the rocks like 10 times in 2500 miles. If they are bad, I am going to replace them myself. I don’t have time to try and get them replaced under warranty and deal with the service department with all the mods. This jeep is so heavy, its currently on jack stands when not being driven. The bumpers, skids and diesel motor are putting stress on the ball joints.

or drip, drip, drip goes your good money
understatement of the year no one's ever bought a jeep to SAVE money other than these poser types who want to pull the top and doors and let the dog hang out the back.

I seriously doubt your balljoints are bad at 2500 miles.. I've beat the literal CRAP out of my jeep and they're still good at 30k.

I have heard 'stories' about them being loose from the factory and such but mine were not.
