Saw this on a Facebook thread. Sending to to test for validity.

"... my 2022 JLUR XR the the front bump stops were ridiculously long. I mean to the point to where the bump stop met the bump stop pad was less than an inch. I reached out to some. r owners and they pretty much said they had the same issue and just put a lift on it to make it less of an issue. I did do a 1.5” level kit and that gave some space in the bump stops but still having issues. I took it to my Jeep dealership and they were shocked that this was done. They took pics and sent stuff over to the jeep engineers and today I finally heard back. I was told that they should not be on the XR except for the 392. They told my dealership that they would send stock bump stops out and that they could cut and weld the new bump stops on and it’s covered under my factory warranty. So if you fall into this scenario, I would highly suggest you contact your dealership and escalate it to get it fixed. Just thought I would share since Jeep is covering it via warranty"

Anyone experience this? Here is a pic of my 2021 JLURxR front factory bump stop and it looks just like described above. Does this need to be corrected by Jeep under warranty? Is this just a front bump stop issue, or could the rear also be a problem? I was hitting my rear bump stop a lot on the Mojave Road a few weeks ago.

@John VonJeep One dealer at least says it shouldn't be that way, and Jeep is covering the fix under warranty.

A post on "Jeep Wrangler JL Owners" Facebook Group. They say there should be ~4" gap as on other Wranglers. But some Xtreme Recons only appear to have ,<1", like mine. Just trying to find out if this is really an issue or not. Sure looks like a problem.

@Kio4x4: Yours looks to have a lot more space than mine, so may not be a problem for yours. What is that gap distance? Did you post your pic to the FB Group? Looks like same pic up there.

@Surfarch not my post on the fb group, I just took that pic when I posted, distance of spacing is at most an inch and a half.

To give you some comparison, see how you match up to mine. Tape measure on bottom of spring bucket, this is taken behind the passenger front tire.

About 4” to metal, 5.25” to bottom of jounce.

The 4” gap is an over estimation. Standard Rubi ride height front shock length is 20” on my 4xe Rubi which tend to run high. To have 4” of jounce clearance, it would need to be closer to 21.5”.

I’m close to 4” after a net increase in uptravel of 1.3” with the lift (4.3” lift, 3” bump).

Edit, something tells me it’s more likely you are undersprung and riding with less than the intended 1.5” lift for the XR. What is your shock eye to eye length? For 1.5” from stock you should be in the 21 range.

I didn't get a good pic before I installed the Next Venture Featherweight front bumper and Smittybilt X20 Gen3 10K winch w/ synthetic rope. But after that, the bump stop gap is maybe 5/8" (see photo)? And the shock eye to eye is 21.25" (see photo). The bumper and winch dropped my height by 3/4". So I presume the gap was 1-3/8" before, and shock eye to eye was 22". That doesn't sound like much.

Update: Heard from a Manager at Jeep Wrangler Project Planning that the long bump stops are on purpose due to the larger tires on the xTreme Recon to prevent them from going into the fenders.

So, looking at the picture, it looks like you have about 5 3/8" from bottom of the coil bucket to the bottom of the steel bump tube, or about 1 3/8" longer than my measurement. I'm assuming that the grey portion of the jounce stop is rubber, including that, looks like the overall jounce is about the same at 1 1/4".

What's throwing me off is that the standard measurements don't seem to be working on yours. Normally there is 16.25" of shock length at metal bump stop. So you should be at 17 5/8", which would leave you with about 3 1/2" of uptravel when you ignore the bumps. That's obviously not working because that looks to be closer to 1 3/4".

@AnnDee4444 check my logic, but have you seen anything about modified shock mounts that would account for this? The upper mount matches what I remember on mine, that the bolt is right at the inner fender cut out. Comparing to a google, it looks like OP's XR lower shock mount is almost even with the LCA, where a standard rubi it appears to be above it:

EDIT: This could be very impactful for lifted shock selection for XR owners. If that dimension is 1 3/4", it would make a big difference in compressed length at bump, and reduce the actual droop seen with extended.

That certainly makes sense, most aftermarket kits recommend approximately 2" of added bump for 35s.

Haven't seen anything specific... but something doesn't seem right.

It doesn't make sense for the OEM to change the shock mounting point and add 1" to the compressed/extended shock length... but I've seen stranger things. Hopefully someone can get a XR & non XR side by side and compare everything accurately.

Non XR lower front shock mount. Tape is center of axle tube as best I could.

Looks like center of bolt head is approx 1 3/8” below center of axle tube.
As obvious in the second pic, camera angle makes a big difference.
