I gave a search but didn't see anything. I got the X35 tire package on a JLU 2025 - in the effort to save some weight, can you just remove it and throw away the bolts to sell or put in a drawer, or do the tires need to come off?

Any downsides/risks I should be aware of? I don't expect I'll ever go under 20PSI

Why would you want to do that? You could easily trade those wheels and tires off to get something else that aren’t beadlock capable.
I like the 35" KO2s, no desire to change the rims. Just wondering if I can just take the rings off in my driveway easily

Might want to check on the pricing for those bolts before throwing them away.
That's a fair point, maybe I should ask if I can take them off just put in drawer somewhere or sell

Yes you can take them off, but i wouldn't run them without bolts installed. They'll fill up with dirt/road debris and you could end up damaging the threads. All to save maybe a pound per wheel? If nothing else they function as both thread and wheel protection at this point.

The wheels look like crap without the ring.
Just get different lighter wheels.

How much weight would you save?
Before we had this rig (Willys XR) we had a Willys non XR.

We did lift it and added 35's but in order to do it "properly" we bought the Mopar Performance wheels.

I liked the blacked out look and it took a while for the XR wheels to grow on me.
I do like them now but typically I don't like a lot of shiny bling. These are pretty understated.

I never considered the weight of the wheel alone, but I was glad the KO2's were C rated ad not E rated like the Toyos we had before.

I'd have to go back and look but I think those Toyos were almost 10 pounds heavier per tire.

Adding the Mopar steel bumper likely negated any weight savings I gained with the lighter tires.

You could easily sell your wheels if the weight savings is actually significant.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I wanted to know :)

super easy to pull off and you can also get plastic bolts to fill the holes to keep debris out of them...not sure what size OEM uses but AEV wheels use M8-1.25

AEV trim rings and bolts are about 3.8lbs total, rings 2.15lbs and bolts 1.65lbs (I weighed with an accurate bicycle scale). I would think the mopar rings would be close altho not as many bolts so the bolts obviously lighter.

Yeah, that's an interesting idea. I'd not thought about using plastic bolts

You might want to consider what would happen to your machined smooth surface (where the trim ring attaches) if you scuff it up against a curb at the mall or a rock on the trail. That could definitely screw up your threads.

make sure to get shorter ā€˜bolts’ if you’re going to run them without the Beauty Rings.
(you know those are just for looks and not the rings or bolts you need if you were to actually run Bead Locked, right?)
