I haven't had any of those issues. Bad steering dampener is the extent of it, plus 2 transmission recalls. But my transmission has been fine.Point taken. But in fairness, it is not just the windshield defogger. It is also the weak steering box. The weak track bar. An HVAC system unable to maintain cabin temperature. The crummy auxiliary battery and charging system. A plant worker, who after four years, still hasn't learned to seat those fuses properly. An indifferent dealer body. Etc. Etc.
Owning a Jeep is clearly not for everyone. And I have learned to roll with the punches over the years. But it makes you scratch your head to see the level of incompetence, indifference, or whatever you want to call it, not to address issues that are so well known.
Wrangler directly contributes a big chunk of FCA's global profits. You would think that that alone would be enough to get them off their asses.
I received and installed mine today. I only used 10. There are 14 holes across the center of the windshield between the two bars of the middle dash tray. I tried installing 11, but they werenāt centered and my OCD was killing me. I left the middle two holes, then installed 5 plugs, using every other hole to each side.So how many plug caps did you use in the center? Also your photo of dash vents look like a long plastic strip. What is that?

They come out very easily, using a trim tool or pliers.Have you tried to remove one of those caps after you put it in? Just curious how big of a pain it might be.
That's great, how does it work? Do you feel the difference?I received and installed mine today. I only used 10. Looking good and enjoy a clear windshield!I ordered mine after seeing this post a few days ago. Arrived via Amazon today, and just put them in. They do help spread out the air to the sides very well. Mad props to the OP.
I ended up covering quite a few in the middle to help push air to the outside:
I literally saw thread title, saw link, opened link, swiped buy.Rookie!
This is far from the 1st post that cost me money, but it's definitely the cheapest.
Iāve seen the parts you have been collecting so I know itās trueRookie!

Last summer, I read posts about the tubing being the 1ā end caps. And I ordered them in anticipation of ordering my Jeep.I wanted to verify for those of us struggling to defrost our windshields that this fix really does work. I ordered the 5/8 tubbing plug caps and plugged every other hole in the center portion. Now, the outer portion blows air equally like the center portion! Pics for reference and super easy! Thank you to everyone that has posted this fix, as a new jeeper, really appreciate it!
