"winch capable" bumper.......

ok.... got a '18 rubicon, with the "winch capable bumper"

now.... i find out "winch capable" means i get to buy a kit with a winch pan and related stuff
so i can put a winch in this. the only winch pan available is for a jk bumper.... but in theory
it should work.... it doesn't actually fit, but i can deal with that.

so, i give it a try. drop $360 or so, and leave with boxes, assured it'll work with a warn xeon winch.

nice winch. no way in hell it'll fit inside the bumper with the plate provided. i dry fitted it last night,
and with it rubbing against the grill, and rubbing on the fender horns, it fits in.

it'll barely fit in between the fender horns. barely. ok, i rolled the dice, and lost.

does anyone besides artec currently make a winch ready bumper for the JL?

i've called poison spyder, and they said "sometime this year"..... before i start calling independent fab shops to build something.....

That is strange. If I'm not mistaken, the winch in the Mopar catalog is nothing more than a rebranded Zeon... Now you've got me concerned as I've got a Zeon waiting for install...

just got off the phone with a very nice lady at rusty's.
rustys max size for this bumper is 21.8x6.3x7.6 high.

the -10 zeon is larger than all of those by a couple inches. 24" long.

the -10 zeon won't physically fit in that bumper, no matter what
adapter plate you use. by the time the things in place, it's rubbing
on the grill, and the fender horns. it'll have to go up above.....

still looking for a bumper..... i'll post what i find here....

Well that is crazy. I don't see any winches fitting in that size hole. Wtf, now I'm rethinking ordering the steel bumpers.

Now I am glad that I didn't order the steal bumpers. I guess I will have to wait for an aftermarket bumper that I like.

We are currently designing a winch plate for OEM bumpers for the JL It will allow the winch to sit lower then the Mopar plate .

The New JL Wrangler looks as if it will hold a winch, but unfortunately it does not in factory form. Rusty's has addressed that issue with a bolt on winch mount that uses the factory bumper. The Rusty's JL Winch Mount will accept winches with steel rope equipped or synthetic rope and can use a roller or a hawse fairlead. The Rusty's JL winch plate is an easy bolt-on installation and comes with all necessary hardware.

Rusty's did extensive research when designing this winch plate so that it will work with most popular winches, even going so far as to request drawings from established manufacturers to be sure that they would work on our mounts without hassle, and we also test-fitted several winches in-house before releasing our final design. However, with all of the winches on the market these days it is impossible to test-fit every single winch to be sure it will work. Clearances are tight, and there are a lot of options out there. The mount includes a standard winch bolt pattern and will work with most reputable winch manufacturer's products.

We do not know that ALL winches will fit but we do know that the following WILL fit:

• Warn VR series
• Warn M8 series
• Warn 9.ORc
• Warn XDi
• Warn XD
• Superwinch Tiger Shark
• Superwinch LP series
• Ramsey REP series
• Ramsey Patriot series

With this said we highly recommend you compare these measurements:

• Winch Dimensions: 21.8" L. x 6.3" D. x 7.6" H.
• (555mm L. x 160mm D. x 193mm H.)

So are you saying it will accommodate wider winches unlike rustys?

I think the issue is with the bumper not the winch plate. no matter what plate it wont change the bumper size.

I thought for sure Zeon's would fit the bumper. As has been mentioned, the Warn Rubicon winch looks like a rebranded 8-S. I read the earlier posts and refused the UPS delivery of my 10-S Platinum about an hour ago.

Something isn't right here, the bumper is almost identical to the JK Hard Rock bumper which will absolutely hold the Zeon 10-S, and Mopar sells a rebranded Zeon for the JL I believe just like they did for the JK. The green JL that Mopar trotted out with all of the mods when they did the reveal at the LA Auto Show that shows up as one of the main photos for this page up top has a 10-S in it. I know with the Hard Rock bumpers a small bit of trimming was required but it absolutely should fit.
