I run Baja Boss MT’s and TBH, when i wear them out I’ll probably go with the AT’s as a replacement. EXCELLENT tires.Wait really? The baja boss AT's are probably the closest to a unanimously well liked tire on the forum. Seems like every week there's a new thread praising them.
I'm guessing you spend most of your time on truck forums? I can imagine BBATs might not get great reviews there, but this isn't a forum for trucks.I have not heard anything good about the Baja boss at’s.
I don’t care for ridge grapplers, I alway run either toyo MT or nitto trail grappler mt.

Actually I’ve been told that by a few very built jeep owners. Honestly I could care less, its tires and if I have bad luck just won’t buy them again. I just run what I know if it’s available. Don’t see how different forums matter with that. I have cars as well and sxs’s. I buy a LOT of tires.I'm guessing you spend most of your time on truck forums? They probably don't get great reviews on Lamborghini forums either, but that doesn't mean they're not great for our rigs.
I was looking at that. I figured if I was going to go 38 or even 40 I’d run the factory 44’s and just stomach the 60 swap if I break one.why not 60s?
The local shop recommended a new driveshaft for 3.5 or larger. 2.5 I was told it’s marginally a problem.3.5 with the Silvers would be my go it on that. The silvers are effectively our build of a Fox 2.0 with better dial in for our coils.
On the 24+ 4.5" kits can be an issue because of the front drive shaft spinning full time since they got rid of the FAD.
You sound like my wife. Money burns holes in my purse so I don’t like to keep it.ahhh you just like wasting money .... get the 38s for sure then
Driveshaft depends on a couple things - static ride height - is the static ride height of your lift enough to cause the boot to rub at the transfer case end on the front driveshaft, and droop amount - shocks over ~28" long exceed the angle that the stock front driveshaft can handle at full droop. The local shop recommended a new driveshaft for 3.5 or larger. 2.5 I was told it’s marginally a problem.
Let’s not get off topic, I’ve never had them so I don’t know, I simply stated two of the locals here that wheel pretty hard in east tn swayed from them to what I already buy, the nitto trail grapplers. They were what I was looking at initially.Wait really? The baja boss AT's are probably the closest to a unanimously well liked tire on the forum. I don’t see the problem with price or availability. Nitto and Toyo Make them in 37 and 38”. And 18” wheels are a hard no, my prospector XL had them and yes that limits you a ton.I'm in the same boat, been running 37's for a few years now and wanting 38's for my next set.
The problem isn't the size, it's the availability and price. There's slim pickings to choose from in 38", you often can't get exactly what you want and have to settle for a load rating you didn't want, and they often cost $100-200 more, each, than the 37" or 40" equivalent.
I made my problem even worse by owning 18" wheels... if you have 17's then you have a few more options, but still not a lot.
I like where your heads at37s to 38s you probably wouldn't even notice a difference. If you want to go up in size just go to 40s. But if youre gonna do 40s just do 42s.
Honestly Jeeps scare me. The cost to lift and modify can and usually is less than that of 3/4-1 ton similar but the part that scares is how much can be done and the amount of parts availability. This is a rzr replacement and just my parts list currently is getting overboard. These things are Barbie dolls. If you can think of something chances are someone already makes that part. Until I started looking at metalcloak and 38’s or 40’s my cost was considerably lower.Yea like claiming that we are all financially irresponsible because we modify our jeeps is just silly lol.
For fucks sake, I’ll try the Baja boss tires, but it will be the men’s version MT’s. I have ran the Toyo and nitto since they came out. I’ve built and ran more trucks than probably anyone you or most people know, it’s the 5th vehicle I’ve bought this year and it’s may 4th. The Baja boss has a great looking tread pattern and I see a lot of jeeps running them I just haven’t ever ran them. It’s just my opinion. Hell it saves me some sheckles as well.Theres a difference between building a Jeep for a hobby of throwing it at rocks and willfully ignoring every post on the forum saying nothing but good things about the BBAT because you run Nittos on your bro trucks![]()
Honestly, if you wanna make things super simple - 2.5" lift from Metalcloak, Clayton, JKS, Teraflex, Rock Krawler, etc and a set of 37x12.50s. It's a fairly standard, ho-hum path that many have taken before, so it's well trodden ground, and it's exceptionally capable. JLs run fairly low slung compared to older Jeeps, so you don't really start seeing benefits of additional lift - IMO anyway - until you're pushing 4.5"+ and 40s+.Honestly Jeeps scare me.
