Looking to swap out my 35 inch Ko2’s on my JLUR extreme recon for some 38x13.5r17 Patagonias.
Thinking I only need another inch lift to run em and wheel em and think I wanna run 1 inch suspension spacers and keep the rest of the suspension stock.
Any thoughts?

Also, any opinions regarding 38x13.5r17 vs 37x12.5r17 Patagonias?

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
My thought is Patagonias suck, but that's not based on personal experience, just the experience of folks I know that run them. I know you're asking for thoughts, plural, but I don't know that I have any more. Hmmm, maybe, why go to 38" tires from 35"? What obstacles are you not making that you need a taller tire?

What lift and suspension are you running currently?
I went from 35's to 37's and ended up regearing to 5.13 (I'm the manual though).
Your steering and other components will probably need attention too.
Will you be wheeling it? If not you will probably not have to worry about bump stops and fender clearance as much, but if you wheel it you'll definitely need to check your clearances.

Currently running the stock 1.5” lift that comes with the rubicon Xtreme recon package. Also have 4.56 gears. Definitely gonna wheel it. Probably gonna need a little more bump stop huh?

I have 38” Ridge Grapplers which are only 12.50 wide. They rub my LCAs at full lock. My wheels are 4.5” BS and -6 offset. I think if youre running a 3.5” bs wheel youll be fine. Or factory wheel w/ wheel spacers

Also - They are hitting the rear pinch seam on the rear wheel wells, so I have to do some trimming. This is on a 2.5” RK lift so it really stuffs the tires when articulating. On a factory lift, you may not stuff them as much where it will make contact.

38x12.5r17 Nittos on Mopar beadlock wheels, no spacers, 3.5” Clayton lift. No rub on road but I have a feeling it’s going to rub when I hit the trails and start flexing. Whether you will rub is highly dependent on the offset of your wheel.

Mines an XR so has 4.56 gears but is the 392 so not comparable to the 2.0 or 3.6 from a gearing perspective. That said for what it’s worth you can definitely feel a loss of feeling of power with the 38s over the stock XR 35” KO2s, even with the hemi, so you’ll probably want to regear with the 2.0 or 3.6.

I hated my pataguccis. Great when new, 10k miles later they were trash.

A friend of mine is running 38s on a JLUR. He had to trim his fenders and the pinch seem in the rear to fit without rubbing. He has a MC game changer

Bump stops can be adjusted to prevent hitting your fenders and body, but won't improve your flex at all. If you plan to wheel it hard and want any up travel, you should look into suspension options. Lifts, shocks, etc. Flex and droop are things to think about too. It really all depends on what "wheeling" means to you.
My 37" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs wheel great and are excelling on road and in the snow too. FWIW. I wheel decently challenging trails with them and have been really happy with them. 50K warranty.

I'd do a minimum of 2-2.5" spacers if you plan to offroad at all. Also, Patagonia's are garbage tires. Get a quality tire like Nitto.

Several that I run with who've ran the Milestar's never went back to them after the first set. Seems like most suggestions here have been against them.

My Jeep club has blown five of the 38 Pat's over the last 2 years and zero Nitto's, KM3s. I was about to order Walmart 38" Pat's because they are so cheap but a buddy in club who blows them a couple times a year convinced me to pay for Nitto 38x13.5R17

To run 38's on my JLR with 2.5" RK lift, I had to install Artec front inner fenders, remove rear inner fender, replace stock plastic front bumper with a stubby. Once the 38's arrive and I can take closer measurements, I'll likely need to slightly trim the rear pinch seam.

How did this all turn out?

Cheers,
