Why not 38s? They're expensive if you get a non-Chinese tire brand, the ones from decent brands are heavy as sin, and if you're going bigger than 37s you might as well just go to 40s.

I'm in the same boat, been running 37's for a few years now and wanting 38's for my next set.
The problem isn't the size, it's the availability and price. There's slim pickings to choose from in 38", you often can't get exactly what you want and have to settle for a load rating you didn't want, and they often cost $100-200 more, each, than the 37" or 40" equivalent.

I made my problem even worse by owning 18" wheels... if you have 17's then you have a few more options, but still not a lot.
Yea for the cost just go 40s really.

Run a spare and bring some side wall patches with you. It will still be cheaper to get the BBAT and the Discount life time replacements than 38s for .5" at most extra clearance. If you want a bigger tire just go to 40s.

@jerhelo Do eeet to sell me your 37s...oh wait never mind since you seem unimpressed with Mickey Thompson BB ATs...lol. :)

BTW 37s fit without any lift and no rubbing on proper wheels, might require little trimming here and there but that's easy to do.

Wait really? The baja boss AT's are probably the closest to a unanimously well liked tire on the forum. Seems like every week there's a new thread praising them.
Knock wood, love mine so far last 4k miles!

We're here building jeeps...... Lets face it.... Financial responsibility is none of our strong points.
Well he asked why we wouldn't do 38s, not "Convince me it's a good idea to waste money"

I've debated posting the fuel wheels I took on a trade to sell on here, because then there would be a record of me having fuel wheels and I don't want my grand kids looking me up in the future and seeing that at some point I had some.

You already have them, can't untaint yourself from that tarnishing. Might as well make some money to make your misery worthwhile.

They came with some 37" BBATs. While that lessened to blow of having them, the quality of the people messaging me on fb marketplace about them has me debating just putting them in a dumpster.

Falken has 38 ATs with good price. I have no experience but what I have heard is positive. That extra .5 of clearance is worth $730 or not... I dont know. To some it isnt but again to others could worth every penny.
