Why not 285/75/18?

Why is 285/75/18 not a more common upgrade to 35"? Price? Weight? A cheap set of Sahara 18" take-offs would probably work well since they come with 255's. Or do most like the wider 315/70/17 size to go 35"?
I've always preferred tall and skinny...

Too expensive, too rare.
275/70R18 and 295/70R18s are much more common and cheaper. Also lighter.
