Another vote for the Quadrate dead pedal with rubber pad. Kind of looks OEM. Spun the pad 180 so the Quadratec logo is at the top because I didn’t want to see it. But now I know it’s still there and upside down so IDK. I just don’t like branding if I can avoid it.

In my case, I never see the need of dead pedal and I like that JL doesn’t have one by default.

No dead pedal for me. I love having the extra room to stretch my left leg out. I feel cramped up and uncomfortable when I get in my work car.
Same here. I've removed dead pedals in prior vehicles, when I was able, because they were too far forward. They forced my left leg into a single position, relative to the fixed width of the footwell, making every drive damn uncomfortable after a brief period of time.

The OEMs appear to believe that we all have stubby inseams. Well, I don't. The absence of a dead pedal in the Wrangler is a feature, not a bug. Those who want one have many to choose from, and can select what will work best for them. A win for all and sundry.

I love my MetalCloak dead pedal. Had the M.O.R.E dead pedal but didn't like the foot support. Only supports part of the foot. MetalCloak has lots of adjustability and is solid! Easy to install.

Are any of the dead pedals mentioned above meant for a manual transmission Jeep?

+1 for the Quadratec plus rubber pad. Easy install and decent price. Great for long highway drives and unexpectedly helpful offroad! You can really put your foot on it and seady yourself on a step drop and even pull yourself up for a better look. Should have added one years ago.

Maybe doesn't realize the raised corner platform found on most manuals is functionally a dead pedal?

While I can do without one in an automatic, I'd absolutely hate to either have my left foot flopping around loose or constantly moving from raised knee w/flat foot to pressing in the clutch pedal, which takes too long.

It's definitely not good to be riding the clutch and your left foot should always be within a few inches of being able to press the pedal imo.

I think you are right. I think the Wrangler is the only manual vehicle I have driven without a dead pedal or side platform to rest the foot. But they were all friend's vehicles and it's not like you need to shift if that quickly on a Jeep :)

Most people I see who don't use a dead pedal in between shifts on a manual are riding the clutch.

Sorry but I call BS on that.

And there isn't room in the JL pedal box for a dead pedal if you have a manual. Hell they barely left enough room for the clutch pedal as it is. But I've never had a problem riding a clutch due to lack of dead pedal. You're huffing some serious copium if you can say that with a straight face.

In my entire life I've never seen anybody have trouble riding a clutch unless they were brand new to manual transmissions. The smell of burning clutch is enough to sear it into your brain after the very first time to keep your God damn foot off the clutch pedal when you're not actively using it.

Is there even enough room to install one on a manual JL??
Hell no. There's barely enough room for the clutch pedal let alone anything else.

I don't know how they managed to make the pedal box on a JL so small but it's ridiculous.

The transmission tunnel had to be widened in the JL generation Jeeps to accommodate the new transmission. Doing so impinged on footwell space (i.e., its width.)

Why doesn't the vehicle with the narrowest foot well of anything anywhere near it's size come with a useless extra pedal in what little space is left down there? On a track car I get it. In a Jeep...with an auto? Hard pass. I'll take all the room I can get thanks. How short are people's legs? I can easily rest my foot on the lower part of the firewall. How inflexible are your ankle that you can't put your foot flat on the floor in the upright driving position of the JL? I've never once thought "I wonder if I can take up even more space in the foot well for nothing".

We have put 30,000 miles on our JLU without a dead pedal and really don't miss it. Wife is 5'-1/2" and I am about 5'-10" and neither of us miss it. Not even sure my wife would even use it. The door strap hits me in the ankle so I don't even keep the foot there anyways.
