I just like Jeeps. When I was young I always wanted one after driving a friend's. His was a manual 2 door soft top and inline 6. Nice one to buzz around in.

I opted for the 4 door since I like to carry stuff in the back and have room for my family. Everyone likes taking turns driving when at the beach and driving in the sand. Have lots of fun together.

A Jeep has been one of those things I've desired since childhood. I've had other 4WD vehicles, but now that I'm well into geezerhood, I finally got a Wrangler 3 years ago. Shouldn't have waited so long. ;)
Being a 79 year old lady geologist its the only vehicle that will get me into some wild back country places for field work where there are NO roads and I have to work solo most of the time so the Jeep has never failed me... Had them since 1964 and my dad had the only 1941 Willys in Sweden that helped pull American fighters off the airfields when they crashed in Sweden and helped rescue many American soldiers so Jeeps have always been in our blood as well. Will never be without one but I guess at my age my 2023
2-door might be my last unless I live to be 99 like my dad who still wheeled at that age LOL:rock:

Hmmm- you didn’t have a Jeep in HS ?
The girls loved riding in my (Dad’s) 3A, going to the lake etc. .. buddies “Sid” and “Jim” caught on and got CJ5’s…. I shouda’ got commission. We had a ball !

full disclosure— used my 55 Nomad wagon for, uh, “real” dates.
Nope, I had the "loser/stay away" grey station wagon until I graduated from high school.

I'd saved up money from after school jobs to buy a used Mustang GT convertible. It was gorgeous. Red, with white leather interior. But my dad swindled me into thinking that Fords were not to be trusted and had me drive his old Audi 5000 station wagon instead...back when they had those transmission issues where they would accelerate suddenly 🙃

I hated that wagon so much 😆

An Audi wagon for a Mustang convertible, sounds depressing, but then, wagons did have “advantages” at HS age. ;)
well after HS, but my father hated my GTX so much when I got rid of it he bought me a 62 Chevy PU (292-6, granny box) hopefully before I bought another muscle car. Having the PU to drive allowed me the money for my 63 Corv-illys Jeep build. … parental try backfired.

A buddy in high school had a old CJ and we had a lot of fun in that vehicle going places that very few vehicles can go. That's how I got the bug and it's been a love afair ever since.

So, thats why I drive a Jeep. My dad is a stupid old fart and doesn't know nuttin'. I'm gunnu hold mu breath until I get what I want...

I got tired of working my life away. I decided I wanted to work less and get out more, to me getting out is exploring remote places in Utah. Also I visit my daughter in Colorado and we do some exploring there too.

When my father opened his repair shop in 1962 he found 2 Jeep pickup trucks to use as company vehicles. Someone brought in a CJ5 with a worn out motor and decided it wasn't worth rebuilding, and just left it. Taken as a gift, it got rebuilt when there was no paying work with the parts written off as business expense. There were many CJ3's and CJ5's around back then and their tiny motor and low gearing wasn't really suited for newly improved road speeds (50+ mph on new pavement vs 45~on dirt and mud) and most of them got worn out fast. More people (esp teenage boys) wanted small block Fords or Chevys put in their CJ5's and the shop did a bunch of them, but my dad always considered a V-8 overkill in a 5; no matter how light your foot was, you were going to be burning a lot of gas. The shop's CJ5 soon became the small boat tow vehicle at the shop, but again, the small motor really limited what it was good for, but it was great at boat launch ramps. By now there were 2 functioning CJ5's and a junker waiting for a motor at the shop. Next came a CJ6A minus a motor and dad came up with a compromise idea vs putting a V-8 in it to make a better tow mule. The 6A was already better because the chassis was heavier than the boats it was towing vs the 5's that were close to the boat/trailer weight. His favorite motor at that time was the Buick V-6. He had his brother watch the junk yards for a low mileage totaled Buick Special and right away my uncle found a Special that had been rear-ended by a dump truck. A week later we had a CJ6A with a V-6. A few years later Jeep bought the tooling and you could buy the V-6 in a new CJ. One of the pickups was fitted with a 2 x 12 board to make it better for pushing other cars and the other with a snow plow. The V-6 CJ6A was so practical the other CJ's were sold, but Jeeps were definitely the trademark vehicle of the shop. All were painted blue with white accents and Sinclair dinosaur decals, since that was the brand of gas the shop sold. Later we got a wrecker tow winch and mounted it in still another pickup.

4 door JLU MT V-6 is just in my blood.

I ended up in a Wrangler because (1) I had long wanted to learn how to work on cars, (2) couldn’t afford to have a garage queen, and (3) my first attempt at it was an ‘08 Odyssey that taught me to look for cars with space under the hood.

I bought it because it’s the Mr. Potato of cars, and I’m sticking with it because it made me discover offroading, I love the community and it always makes me smile when I hop in for a drive!

Wow- a 6A, only 450 6“A’s” were produced . I hope you kept the unicorn. 👍 5”A’s” aren’t exactly common either , only 7,300 produced.

I love driving convertibles, missed having a manual, and there are not a lot of convertibles with space for 2 people and a 50 lb dog.

Aside from the obvious fun of driving off-road, the Wrangler is genuinely fun at around-town speeds.

This topic is probably a duplicate from a old one but here it go: So why you have own a Jeep ?

Jeep landed in the family because of my grand father. He came back from the other side of the pond with a bunch of war story and I guess he passed the idea to my dad who got a CJ 7. My dad was having two dream car he wanted to own in is life a Jeep and a corvette, he got the jeep first and never got around to the corvette. I guess Jeep is all you need
Learned to drive on that jeep and later on got a JK and now a JL.

So I guess it run in the family :)
My Grandfather had a '82 CJ7 "Lonestar Legend." We still have it today. Needless to say I grew up obsessed with Jeeps and drive a JL today.
