“bought so i could purposefully not take it off road just to piss off the people on the forum who say you shouldn’t buy one if not off roading”

lol I was joking with my son the other day that the only off-roading I do is when I use the gravel shoulder to go around cars that are blocking the right turn lane.

“i’m still the first to volunteer to run to the store as i love driving it”

Same 😂😂
Not going to shame you for not off-roading, BUT you sure would have a ton of fun and…

My decision was based on reading about the Rubicon 392 XR being released in 2021. I immediately decided to locate and acquire one for learning and enjoying off-roading.
It was a GREAT DECISION!

I came from a little 98 Sonoma pickup to a 2015 (I think…may have been a 2016) Patriot. I liked both because they were higher off the ground, good for Michigan winters.

I was tired of the Patriot, thought Wranglers were cool and since I needed to be able to climb into or slide into a vehicle as opposed to falling into one due to back issues I started looking at wranglers. 4-wheel drive was also a necessity due to driving around Detroit’s notoriously unplowed streets at night (I was a home care on call night nurse) and didn’t need to be getting stuck anywhere.

I fell in love with the wrangler the minute I test drove it and ordered one on the spot. I love my little 2018 red 2 door jl. I don’t do the visiting nurse thing anymore so don’t drive like I used to, but yeah, like one of the commenters above, I volunteer to drive any chance I get. 😂😂

the 1949 Willys Jeepster like the one below was the first Jeep product I ever drove. I was 16 years old and my father let me take it on dates. The chicks loved it! The one in the photo is not my father’s, but my father’s Jeepster was modified with 4WD. My wife whom I was dating at the time loved that Jeep. I wish I had it today. If I can find the actual photo I’ll scan it and post it.

I owned a 1977 Scout II to fish the beaches, and when IHC discontinued the Scout at the end of the 1980 MY, my next vehicle was a 1988 Cherokee Classic. After that, a 1999 Cherokee Classic, then a 2013 Wrangler Sahara.
Now I drive a 2018 Wrangler Sahara and use it to drive the local beaches and I still surf fish.

Why? Because I can.

Two of father’s friends (brothers) had them. They put 4wd under one and it wasn’t easy due to the single transverse leaf front suspension. It also got a Chevy. I would love to have it, a beaut.

Dad worked at a Chrysler dealership and when they bought Jeep his dealership became a Jeep dealership.
They really jazzed them up about it and they quickly realized they sold way more than sedans, so it became their bread and butter. I never was into wranglers at the time, I liked Cherokees.
Dad passed away at 50 and I needed a vehicle to get me to commute to college and the dealership he worked at his whole life gave me a really good deal on a used XJ Cherokee.
I basically lived out of that thing for 5 years since my mom moved to South Carolina out of grief.

Then my now wife came with a TJU Wrangler and was exposed to how fun topless driving was, and a little bit of off roading.
Got a Liberty KK as my first new vehicle because I wasn't well to do but the Cherokee was a bit problematic.
Then my wife made me take the JKU she had and went and got pregnant and couldn't climb up into it any more.
Then I got a really high trade in value on that for the JT I ordered.
I was so excited to have created a vehicle exactly as I wanted and could afford. Happiest I've ever been with a vehicle, minus the monthly payment.

I have always liked Jeeps and thought it was cool to take the top and doors off. Hit my midlife crisis, as my wife says, last summer and really started looking hard at the new Broncos and Wranglers. My wife said the Broncos were ugly and wouldn’t even ride in one, so being the smart husband I am I stopped looking at Broncos and focused solely on Wranglers. Glad I did some research before buying or I may have ended up with a JK based on the prices. Majority of the reviews said the JL was better in almost every way. I love my Jeep. Love seeing it in the parking lot when I leave work. Finally get to experience the top/doors off lifestyle and really don’t want to ever have to put them back on. The mod bug does bite me more often than my wife or bank account would prefer though.
