Jeep Wrangler JL Why do you own a Jeep 1717717503710-gq

Similar to an earlier post.

1st, so I can drive around with the top and doors off.

2nd, there is always an empty space for me.

3. Not many vehicles today can be had with a manual transmission...

Retired and loving it!
Fell in "love" with my grandpa's '46 CJ2A back in the 60's (which I now own). In '03 we wanted a vehicle to flat tow behind our motor home and chose a 2-dr TJ.

I prefer driving manual transmission and I wanted something with ground clearance for weekend road trips. The options to get both are pretty limited. I ordered a Bronco and a Wrangler. Both 2dr and both with a manual transmission. The bronco arrived first and while I liked the feel of that clutch and engine better, the Wrangler felt more polished. So I passed on the Bronco and recently picked up my Wrangler.

My 02 Xterra blew up and I needed something 4wd, I enjoy rock crawling and after placing a deposit on a Taco I realized you cant put 35s on it without cutting the frame, got my deposit back and went across the street to the Jeep dealer and special ordered a JLR.

Always wanted one since I was a kid, it just looked like a fun vehicle but I never saw girls driving them much. Then came Daisy Duke representing the Lady Jeepster rolling ā€œDixieā€on the Dukes of Hazard & I was sold! Been loving jeeps ever since.

Before I joined the Army in 97 I thought Jeeps were kinda cool, I mean MacGyver had one, but I didn't see the appeal vs a truck. My roommate in the barracks had an old YJ with a body lift and some 33s. I still thought my little 4x4 Dakota with the 318 was better, because I could still haul stuff. But after trying to keep up with him on some of the trails I figured out how cool his old Jeep was. Bought a TJ in 99 and have pretty much always had one ever since.

Bought a CJ7 right after high school, several friends had them and I always wanted one. I LOVED that vehicle, used it to death and sold it at a profit a few years later. Missed it ever since.

Then I went to college and grad school and stuff like that wasn’t in the cards. My younger bro bought a JK in 2015 and I was super jealous.

Im into the outdoors in a big way. Hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking. I finished grad school and am earning enough now that I can afford a brand new Jeep and all the mods as I want them. I live pretty close to Moab and thought ā€œI should get a Jeep againā€. So I sold my Subaru and bought the Wrangler.

I think I’ll always have one now. I’m in the market for a TJUR if I can find the right one, I’d like to modify that and use it as my Moab rig. But the JLUR is serving that purpose well in the meantime.

I drove one in Hawaii in 2000 and it got 19 mpg and I was like nope. My wife always wanted one and I resisted because of the gas mileage. Started renting them on business trips and had a blast taking the freedom panels off. Ordered the one in own for my 50th birthday and kick myself for not buying one 20 years earlier. I absolutely love driving it, the places it has taken us, and the experiences we have had because of it.

I convinced the wife to get one because she wanted something with 4wd. She got hers, I took it for a spin and fell in love so I got my own.
Similar story. I never wanted one, but my wife liked them and her sister had a MY21 Sahara. So we bought a MY22 Rubicon XR with a SOT top. I drove it home and loved it. Over the next three months my wife saw I liked it so much that she started driving our Tacoma and left the Jeep in the driveway for me to drive. Fast forward a year and we placed an order for a MY24 Rubicon X with a SOT top for her to drive and passed the Tacoma down to our son.

in total over the last 4 years our two families have bought five Wranglers, a 21 Sahara, 21 Willys, 22 Rubicon XR and two 24 Rubicon X’s. Needless to say we have gone in big and all love our Wranglers.

We've had various Jeeps since my 87 Comanche. Most were early Cherokee, and then Grand Cherokee. Quality and reliability were always good. We've just had really good luck with Jeep vehicles. And of course they are great winter vehicles.

My first Jeep was a worn out YJ, I didn’t have it long because I needed money so I sold it, regretted it as soon as it left the yard.
My current JK was poor impulse control. I went to the dealership for an oil change on my Nissan and while waiting for it I watched them unload a 2 door JK Mountain edition in Mango Tango. I went back the next day at 9am and drove it home.
The 392 because it’s the end of an era and doubles as my midlife crises sports car.
The 24 two door Rubicon, another poor impulse control. I call it the community Jeep. It’s for friends and family to use so other people can go for rides with me and enjoy the freedom of Jeeps, and I wanted a Bikini Blue Jeep. No regrets on any of my decisions.

Got the JK hung up last weekend.

So poor impulse control is my excuse for my Jeep fleet.
