I had the red Power Wheels Jeep with the Golden Eagle on the hood when I was a kid. And a Jeep hat (with the AMC logo). Who knew it was indoctrination which would prepare me to get excited about an EV Wrangler later in life.

I've owned a few Jeeps since I've had my license. Like dogs are great animal companions, Jeeps are great automotive companions.

The most recent one...the JL...it does it all and still takes me to places where I'd rather be (away from people, actually).

bought so i could purposefully not take it off road just to piss off the people on the forum who say you shouldn’t buy one if not off roading despite paying for it with MY money, lol.

seriously, bc i wanted a convertible for 3 seasons that i knew i could have full confidence in getting me to work in snow. not a lot of options for that in 2019.

also, i learned to drive in the anza borego dessert when i was nine with my dad in his cj7. we’d camp with sleeping bags on carpet squares. no tent. dad had two, step dad had two, bro had one. i guess it was a family thing. after 5 years of ownership, i’m still the first to volunteer to run to the store as i love driving it

Never even considered one, even after driving jeeps in the Army and beating them on the tank trails on Fort Riley Kansas.

Always had the need for speed, so sports cars. I always got a full size SUV or full size truck for the wife though. And we always took it on trips and weekends.

Wife and I have always loved the outdoors, mountains, etc. rented cabins and tent camped for over 25 years.

When we decided to not ride motorcycles much anymore, or do the tent camping thing we started buying RV trailers. Then it just seemed like the jeep would be a great way to keep our adventures going.

No regrets at all. We have had a lot of great times outdoors, but the jeep has taken us places no one has been and memories right up there at the top of the list. And more to come.

how should I know? its like one day I just decided to buy one.

I used to want a gladiator watching reviews when it just released. After seeing how big it is in person I went nope. asked my dad for advice and he suggested 2 door. he had a TJ lwb
Yeah I looked at a gladiator for all of about 3 seconds, went out to the garage with a tape measure and noped right out of that idea.

Also I decided real Jeeps only have two doors.

Hilariously enough I wasn't quite prepared for how little room there is in a two door Wrangler. I drove a Renegade to the dealer to trade it in and I thought the Wrangler is larger so it would have at least as much room...LOL no

It was a little bit of effort to get everything out of the Renegade and into the Wrangler. More thought was required to get everything to fit that needed to fit then what was required for the Renegade.

But I've wanted a Jeep since I was about 12 or 13...back then I wanted a CJ5 but the JLR isn't half bad itself.

My wife and I are empty-nesting. Since we had always owned "practical" cars (eg Hondas), my wife suggested that I buy a "midlife crisis" car for myself. She thought I'd want a Porsche or vintage Mustang/Corvette and was shocked when I told her that I wanted a 2-door Jeep. I had wanted one since I carpooled in the late-1980s with a buddy who had a CJ-7. My wife hated the Jeep on Day 1 when we drove it home. She started calling it her Jeep on Day 2. :)

We needed to replace my wife's car. I wanted something small and efficient because highway driving is what she does most. She wanted a giant SUV because as a family of three with the kid ready to leave the house, we need three rows and 11,000 lbs towing capacity (I guess). We fought.

At some point in the argument, I was made aware that she had always compromised when we bought a car for her. All she ever really wanted was a green car.

Then I saw a sarge green Wrangler, and I was like "we could get a green Jeep." She says, "a Jeep would be cool." And I go, "a Jeep would be cool."

So it isn't efficient and it isn't giant, but it is a great shade of green. We both love it.

My best friend had a CJ5 in HS. And I always thought flatfenders were cool. So in 89 I bought a 46 CJ2A and fixed it up for off roading (still have it). In 2008 I bought a 98 TJ and fixed it up for off roading and overlanding (still have it). Didn't care for the JKs so much, but the first time I saw a JLU XR I decided I needed one. Wife has a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, and we went away for a few days in it. PIA to get in and out of, and my legs cramp after a few hours. So I got rid of my 96 Dodge 1500 4x4 and my Toyota Yaris and got a 23 JLU Willys XR 2.0T as my daily driver, date night vehicle, overlanding, and trip vehicle. I guess I'm a Jeep guy.

Owning a Jeep is part of who I am. I learned to drive on back roads when I was 13 years old, in my dad's 1972 CJ-5. When I was 14 years old, I had saved enough money to buy my own Jeep, a badly used 1961 CJ-5 that I bought for $600. This is the 50-year anniversary from my first Jeep, and I have owned a Jeep for every year of those 50 years since. When people that know me see me driving, they fully expect it to be in a Jeep.

The CJ was introduced as “The World’s Most Versatile Motor Vehicle” today’s Wrangler still is. an excellent Jack of most trades beyond any other modern vehicle’s multi capabilities I can think of…. from a Lifer driving Jeeps since ~65, in and around prior.

Always liked Jeeps history but mainly because I need something with a solid axle that isn’t 30+ years old.
