Just curious to see what oil everyone is using, and why the certain weight, type, and brand?

I dont drive much, so I need an oil I can feel comfortable leaving in, for many months. My last oil change was 8 months ago, and it had been changed by the dealership since new(free oil changes).
Since the free changes are expired, due to time, I decided to go with a high quality oil. Mobil 1, Extreme Performance, 0w-20w($27.47), ordered on Amazon, and a filter. . I also put a Fumoto F106S drain valve on, for quick changes.
I figure I will change the oil every 5K, or 1 yr, whichever comes first. BTW, this oil really quieted the engine down.

I have used Mobil 1 full synthetic religiously for the past 25 years or so and have NEVER had an engine failure. My 2010 GMC Sierra with the 6.2L has 160,000 miles and still purrs like the day I bought it new. I would highly recommend that product, with of course, the proper maintenance vehicles require.

Oh no, not another oil thread.

Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic 0W20 on my JT as I read/was told that the factory fill from Jeep is Pennzoil.

Mobil1 (Regular Synthetic + Extended Performance) on my 2004 2.3L Mazda3 for the past 17 years+. No issues. Engine still feels as strong as it did on Day 1.

Draw your own conclusions.

I have about 12,000 miles on my 2019 JLUR 3.6/8 speed automatic and I’m currently running the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w20 with a Mopar MO-349 filter. I’ve also tried Shell Rotella Gas Truck 0w20, Motul Eco-lite 8100 0w20 and Valvoline Advanced Full Synthetic 0w20.

All of the oils I’ve tried have performed flawlessly although I’ve been changing my oil and filter roughly every 2,000 miles which I’ll admit is excessive and needless. As a result, I couldn’t really tell you if one lasts longer than another because I change it so often. Due to warranty preservation concerns, I always use oil that meets the MS-6395 standard in 0w20.

For what it’s worth I’ve also changed the engine air filter and cabin air filter at both 5,000 and 10,000 miles. Probably overkill on these things as well.

I found a deal on some Pennzoil Ultra Plat 0w-20 in 5q jugs for about 12 a jug. I bought a few cases....we have 2 jeeps and they both idle a lot, and since it's hot af where we live, I will change at 5K give or take. I have OEM filters now and some of the fram ultras I will switch to at some point.

OEM or better filter and a decent oil, no biggie. Dont' forget your diffs.

Where at? I assume it's over now.

I used Valvoline for my first two oil changes. Shell Rotella for my last change and the next one thanks to the super sale. I use a Mobil1 high mileage filter I found on Ebay 4 for $20. Otherwise the Mopar Filter is good and widely available.

You got it :)

Amsoil 10W-30 SIg Series, only drive it during the spring summer and fall, change once a year. Oil has one of lowest Noack numbers 4.1% and decent amount of moly in it over 250 ppm

Note I have a stash of many oils and viscosities in my basement, have hoarded free oil from Autozone, lots of Mobil1 , Penz ultra, SRT0w-40, etc

Go to oils for my Hemis is Redline 5w-30 and 5w-40, tons of Moly over 500 PPM, Zinc and phosphorous, quiets the Hemis right down.

It calls for 0w-20 and you’re using 10w-30?
