@driventoadventure @nsfw_andy

Thank you both for help with the wiring. I went and checked the ACC line and sure enough, it was the wrong one. Even though on the site I read it was the correct one lol. Imagine if I would have broken down and got a MM 20+ years ago, I would have been done days ago lol. Its done now though.

For parkmode, do you do low bit rate or one of the low FPS? I set the cut off at 12.2V I hope that is ok.

For all others that gave their opinions on cameras and such, I thank you also.

Now that I am getting yelled at for not taking enough brakes today in the 110+ heat lol Im going to go take a nice cold shower LOL.

Happy to help!!

I set mine to Auto Event so it will only go off when it sees motion or triggers the event recorder from a bump etc...

I also suggest setting the variable bitrate as high as possible, it makes a HUGE quality difference.

When you say variable bit rate, do you mean for normal video or park mode? Ill have to look at it next time Im out there. I think Im pretty done roasting today. I already put Oracle bumper lights in the wife's Jeep earlier and attempted and failed to put some decals on the side windows.

FWIW, those pink crimp connectors in the picture look to be heat shrinkable type.

For variable bit rate, I meant for main mode, not parking mode. It will be under the "Bitrate" option and setting it to the higher/highest option will increase the size of the videos dramatically, but by doing so reduce compression and equally as dramatically increase quality.

They indeed are. Purposely purchased those so I didnt have to get heat shrink separate.

Gotcha. And you said set it for event for park mode right? What video setting did you use for that?

I would assume, until the battery drops to the set point, the camera just stays on?

Yes, for parking mode I set it to "Auto Event" mode, I had tried the FPS and lower bitrate modes and just preferred the event mode.

The voltage trigger is the level at which it totally shuts off (as in not even parking mode is recorded.) I set mine to 11.8v because the place I am most worried about killing the battery is also the place where I want the most protection - while it's parked at the airport... And the lot I use has free jumping support etc (plus I always do indoor valet anyway because my frequent-user status discount actually makes it cheaper)...

Ill have to set it to event too then so its not out there just recording.

Good idea. I may reset that also then. Granted I carry a jump box so Im never without but I still wouldnt want to kill the battery.

I use the Wolfbox G900 Dash Cam. I picked it because it has two rubber straps and it attaches to your rear-view mirror. It does not attach to the windshield, or your dashboard. It is not easy to see that you have the dashcam installed. I ran the cables through the different panels so you cannot see the cables. From outside the vehicle it just looks like a standard rear-view mirror. It does have to be off-set a little for the front facing camera to see around the sensor stuff behind the rear-view mirror.

I took a couple pictures, they are not really good pictures but they will give you an idea of what it looks like. If you look at the first picture, you can barely see the corner of the stock rear-view mirror. I leave mine up all the time and nobody has messed with it. You can see the cables on the top of the mirror, but they are not easy to see from the outside of the Jeep. The front facing camera is adjustable...

Curious where you installed your rear camera. My Blackvue 900S just died. Looking into buying the Wolfbox now but cant think of a good place to mount that rear camera.

I bought the long wire kit for the kit. I ran it into the back door and have it mounted on the spare tire. I will post some pictures tomorrow when it is light out. I can be installed outside, in fact they recommend the back camera should be outside...

Interesting. I mounted my rear camera on the sound bar as I wanted to be able to remove the hardtop without issue. It is not ideal but have decent view. Will have to investigate whether the BlackVue 900X rear cam can handle the exposure.

Maybe not a professional looking install job, but it works. I would like to clean it up a little. I got power to the rear camera from inside the tailgate by tapping into the rear brake light harness.

The new Insta360 Ace Pro has a dashcam feature. I use the action cam when I'm out, then clip it in for "dash cam mode." Win/Win. It turns on/off and records with the Jeep.

The footage is great, and there are so many options. I can record up to 8k with this thing.

I keep looking around trying to figure out which dash cam I should get. I was leaning toward the Rove2 but then a lot of the bad reviews I found complained about heat issues. Living in FL, I guess that would be an issue for me also. Any recommendations on a good cam that can handle the heat here? Thanks
Looks like you got a dashcam purchased, I hope it's working well for you.

In the event others run across this thread as I did, I would urge them to at least take a peek at the 70mai A810 dual.

As an Engineer I spend way too much time researching, well, pretty much everything.

My priorities for my dashcam were, in order:
Value
Video quality (daytime and nighttime)
Advanced Features
Vendor Responsiveness

The A810 is a true 4K front/1080p rear system using the new Sony Starvis 2 imx678 sensor.

Honestly the only thing I would change about it is to have a supercapacitor instead of the Li-ion since I live in the Midwest where it gets really hot.

That said I've never had a battery issue with any of my other dashcams and I found a video showing how easy it is to replace the A810 battery (2 screws), if needed.

I paid $109 for the unit off Amazon, with 70mai being the direct vendor, Amazon providing the fulfillment.

Its actually working very well. Video with it is pretty good. I research a lot too and at the time, it seemed this was one of the better ones for night recording etc. It does not have a battery or super capacitor but does wire into the Jeep itself. It also has a voltage cut off switch so it the battery drops below a certain point, it will turn itself off to not drain the battery. So far, for what I paid for it, I am impressed.
