did mine at about 1300 just to get what ever break-in crap out of my 18 JLUR and then switch to every 4-5000 on the free oil changes, then go to synthetic. always stood on top of my oil changes and had very few problems with my past vehicles..:please:

I did mine at 3k miles
It was the dealer freebee
I had mine in for the cruise control recall and thought it would be a good time to get it done while it was there anyway.

I took mine to the dealership, yesterday. I made clear that no more than 5 quarts were to go in it. They seemed to be on top of things, and already knew. They also lubed the chassis. I'm not sure if there are any fitting that take greese. They also washed, vacuumed and cleaned the tires/wheels. No charge. I did check the dipstick, and the level was correct.

Dealership
2840 miles
Synthetic Oil. New filter.

I had an oil change and 5-tire rotatation done yesterday at 5,000 miles at Olathe (KS) Dodge Chrysler Jeep. I checked the oil level and it was not overfilled.

I did the first at 3k because I was about to go on the Cal4wheel Winter run and I knew I would have my foot to the floor for the first time due to being fully loaded with a trailer, climbing hills, deep snow etc..

Plan to do the 3-5k interval via the Jeepwave (all factory stuff) until that runs out then consider my next steps with full synthetic.. I may jump to the 5-7 range.. I like even numbers, so prob stay in the 5k region...

This little 3.6 is going to get the crap beat out of it due the weight, my foot, and 37"tires... so I will be impressed if it last 200k .. but that is why I bought the life warranty… we will see...

I did the same plan on my 2008 town and country... and I have not had one problem with that little v6..

For those like myself, that will be using Pennzoil 5w20 for their 3.6 JL oil change..... you can presently get Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 , 5 qt. container for $20.00 at Amazon..

Buy the oil and then use the $10.00 Pennzoil rebate.

So, the oil costs you $10.00 for the 5 quarts. Buy an OEM filter on Amazon for $7..02 .... End result is your oil changes cost you $17.02 total.

Oil:

I would also suggest to have an extra filter lid 68191350AA on hand in case of cracking, better yet get a Fumoto drain plug!

I have 1800 miles on my new Rubicon JLR which an oil change appointment for this Friday... I have seen some Jeepers get an oil change like me as old school at 2k or 3k miles and the dealer said 7k...

So tell me what you did....

Miles?
Type of oil/filters?
Did you do the dealer freebee?
Why or Remarks?

If the forum owner (Bill?) could you make this a vote with comments. I see some folks talking about this and with more and more JL owners are getting to this point will need to know.
My first was at 6K at the dealer with my free one (have 5 free with synthetic so why not) I also have a catch can, this I check every 3 gas fill ups and there's always oil and fine crap in it, so the catch can seems to be a great $160 investment :) Gonna try to stick with 6K for tire rotate and oil change and check the catch can each 3 fill ups.

I like the every 3 fill ups to check the catch can... I was asked by UPRproduct to let them know about amount of oil at 1k from installation of catch can... then will do every 3 fill ups.

As for tire rotation, do you do 4 or 5 tires.... I'm a 4 tire guy.
