  2. Suspension on the 392 and some confusion

What kind of highway mileage are you getting out of that 392 in stock form?
  3. Accel/decel clunk?

I brought my JLU in again this summer, this time everyone heard it, and they "supposedly" brought in a Jeep Rep who said that it was normal w/manual transmissions. Bull, I've owned quit a few vehicles w/manual transmissions, including Jeeps, and it isn't normal. Of course I've never had one...
  4. Rear rotational knock from differential at low speeds.

Sorry for being late in responding. This time they heard the noise. There's was more than one witness. They brought in a Jeep Rep and they said that it was normal play w/the manual transmission. I've owned plenty of manual transmissions over the years, including in Jeeps, and that's not...
  5. 2021 Diesel gearing changed to 4.10?

I wish they would offer the 3.73 as an option again for the 3.6L V6/6 speed manual, w/the JL Sport/Willys models. It use to be an option w/the JK line. It came w/my 2014 Willy's JKU, w/the limited-slip. The 3.45 is just too high a gearing in my opinion for stock size tires, not only for...
  6. Stock Sport to winch equipped for $500

Well, I finally got my Warn M8/M8000 winch installed on my JLU, w/the Rock Hard winch plate, after also three months plus since purchase. It's been too hot to work on here locally. I still need to wire it up to the battery, hopefully next Saturday. One problem, the combination of metric and...
  7. What shocks for Rubicon take off suspension (for my Sport S)?

I have just the stock Sport Suspension w/the Rubicon Shocks. There's no lift. I wanted the more heavy duty gas shocks from the Rubicon. My steering is just fine, though I may have to add a spacer to the front when I add my winch, which I hope to install this weekend. UPDATE: No spacer needed...
  8. What shocks for Rubicon take off suspension (for my Sport S)?

I picked up a Rubicon set on eBay for $50, w/just 50 miles on them. I have them installed on my stock Sport suspension, w/no issues.
  9. Rubicon suspension with RC level kit on JL sport

UPDATE: For those interested, I've had the Rubicon Shocks on my stock Sport JLU, w/the stock suspension, for well over a year now, and have had no issues at all w/them.
  10. Which limited slip differential on 2018 Sahara?

Jack it up via the differential housing and turn one of the wheels. If both wheels turn in the same direction, you have a Limited-Slip, and if they turn in opposite directions, an Open Differential.
  11. Stock Sport to winch equipped for $500

I've never heard of any issues. I've never had any issues on my previous JKU, which I had a Warn above bumper mount w/the Warn M8000. If you look at Fouts photo above, his Warn M8000 doesn't cover that much of the grill on his JL. The same goes w/Mintswitch's as well, w/his Traveller 9k...
  12. Rear rotational knock from differential at low speeds.

That's what the Anti-Spin Differential is, a Limited-Slip w/a Clutch. It's an option and not a standard item on the JL. The clutches do eventually wear out and required replacement over time, which varies on the type of driving and maintenance done. 1. A standard open differential, w/no Locker...
  13. Grille Inserts or Black Grille on Sting-Gray?

I've had them on my JLU, and sadly, due to the local heat here in SoCAL, the double sided tape disengages, and the pieces become loose. While most have been easy to remove, I've still got a couple which won't come off at all. I need to use something to spray on the tape in order to remove once...
  14. Rear rotational knock from differential at low speeds.

I have a 2018 JLU Sport, non S, w/the 3.6 engine, the tow package, 6 speed manual, and the Dana 44 rear w/the anti spin, and yes, I have the rear noise, be it a knock, click, or clunk. :) I get a noticeable click noise from what sounds like the rear end, taking off from a dead stop. The noise...
  15. Stock Sport to winch equipped for $500

Well I finally ordered a winch for my Rock Hard 4x4 winch plate, a Superwinch LP10000, model 1510200 w/Steel Rope, for around $411. It's a 10K lb. winch, which is well above the 1.5x the vehicle weight formula. Looking at the Superwinch, it looks like a good quality winch. It's a well known...
  16. Disable key Switchblade.

Hmmm, how about applying tape, like scotch, or better yet, aluminum tape up near the pivot point of the key, closing the gap there, thus causing friction there so it doesn't open up so easily? I'll give it a try w/some scotch tape, and if it works, post it. It's a bad design to begin with. My...
  17. Purchasing my first Jeep...and need some advice.

Even then, I'd be careful, because you won't be sure until you actually need your insurance. You're taking a risk. As for warranty, I would imagine using strictly Jeep manufactured parts, as well as having a Jeep dealership install, would be your best option when it comes to lift kits and such...
  18. Purchasing my first Jeep...and need some advice.

The Rubicon is really set up for heavy offroading, and is an over kill for anything else really. For general offroading, the other two models are just fine, but do get the optional Limited-Slip on them. I highly recommend getting a winch as well. Jeeps still get stuck. ;) The Rubicon's come...
  19. Stock Sport to winch equipped for $500

Hi, How's that Warn M8000 working out for you? Is your Wrangler a JL or a JLU? I'm trying to debate on getting an 8000 lb. or 10000, because of the weight of my JLU. I had an M8000 on a 2003 Tacoma 4x4 I once had, and like it, but my JLU is heavier, so I'm wondering if a 10000 lb. might be a...
  20. Recommended minimum RPM to run on the V6 engine?

The one thing that the manual transmission JL's desperately need is a lower axle gearing such as the 3.73, which use to be an option on the JK's. The 3.43 is just too high, in my opinion anyway, which is why I drive mostly in 4th. The 3.43's is fine on flat and level highways, but come to any...
