Exactly 3 months and mileage was 3,700. They over filled it. 2nd was 3 months later at, 9,500 miles and they just did my 3rd at 13,700. I guess I have 1 more free oil change? After that I'll just do them myself since they are so easy.

Had my 1st oil and filter change at just over 1,000 miles, 2nd one at 5,000. I got the extended warranty so between that and the wave program I think I have 10 freebies left. Gonna do my next one between 8,500 and 9,000 miles, figure about every 3,500-4,000 miles so i can use them all before they expire. Dealer says they're using synthetic so I should be good.

My question for those who do their own maintenance, how do you log it from trade-in/resale time?
If you go on your computer and bring up the Mopar vehicle dashboard for your JL, click on maintenance, there is a place to log what you've done on your own. That way the dealer can look it up if you have to take it in for any reason. You can also print it out for your own records.

If you do it yourself keep your receipts in case you have issues and need to prove you did the work. It's not absolute evidence but I think most places will accept it as proof.

Thanks. I know you can create an account on the Carfax website and upload images of receipts too to document your maintenance. I didn't know about MOPAR.

Changed oil on both our JL’s at 1500 miles myself and did not reset the service interval. Then dealer freebie at about 7000 miles. Will see going forward what I end up doing.

You're absolutely right about keeping your receipts, forgot to say that.

First oil change and tire rotation at 5k miles plan to repeat every 5k. My dealership gives a lifetime warranty on the power train if the service is done there, so I plan to use them.

Dealer did 1st one at 3000, 2nd at 8000 miles and will go 5000 on the next 2. That should be about 23000 miles and one year old when we will switch to Redline 5 w 20.

Your comments in Oil Change and filter plan helped make the following plan for my Jeep…. As a side note this was my first oil change and did it with my Jeep Buddy good friendship followed by a beer.

At 2K change oil and filter with Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 qt. Walmart # 556543718 and Mopar MO-349 filter. Do not reset oil life tracking on dash as wanted to see what is up. The oil at 2k was black and needed a change.

At 5K miles only change oil filter Mopar MO-349 filter. Check oil in UPRProducts.com catch can between oil jobs.

Then 10K go to Jeep Dealer for them to change oil and rotate (4 tires only) as a free service…. Doing this as manual says every 10k and want dealer to record per warranty requirement. Request that they put in Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 qt. Walmart # 556543718 and Mopar MO-349 filter. Check and remove UPRProducts.com oil catch can and two hoses before going to dealer. Will be putting back the old Jeep vacuum hose.

At 15k miles only change oil filter Mopar MO-349 filter. Check oil in UPRProducts.com catch can between oil jobs.

Then 20K go to Jeep Dealer for them to change oil and rotate (4 tires only) as a free service…. Doing this as manual says every 10k and want dealer to record per requirement.

And so on……

Thanks guys great folks and comments on this post and forum. Keep it coming...

2500 miles, 5000 miles, and will do every 5,000 here-out. No jack, no mess with filter on top of engine, Takes 15 minutes, about the same time it takes to make an appointment. Peace of mid too!

Valvoline Synthetic, Mopar filter
