Like @Hennessey17 said, I buy from Discount Tire or Tire Rack. I've only had one problem w/ Discount Tire - years ago I had a Golf GTI and when I had the tires replaced the tire tech (?) was very careless with the wheels. He dropped one of them on the face after he took it off, not spitefully but just not thinking, and scratched the wheel face pretty good. Other than that one issue, they've been good to deal with.

I just wish I had a Discount Tire shop near me, closest one is 591 miles away :crying:. That being said, I did check their internet site, discountiredirect.com, and they have a recommended installer 4 miles from me so that may work out. I'll have to make a final decision on tire size and go from there.
Just make sure whatever shop you use will mount whatever tire on whatever wheel you want. My local Discount Tire won’t mount a tire size not recommended by the manufacturer. I’ve tried a few times over the years. At least on a stock wheel not sure on aftermarket wheels. Otherwise as others have said Discount Tire is only way to go if in your area.

That shouldn't be an issue. My son bought a new Gladiator and upgraded his wheels and tires. He gave me his brand new black Gladiator wheels so I'm going to have the tires mounted without my JL being in the shop. When they're mounted then I'll bring the JL in and have them put them on the JL and synchronize the TPMS. I'm in a really small town where everyone knows everyone. The guy who owns the local garage will do whatever I want anyway. I'm only going up from a 245/75/17 to a 275/70/17 so it's less than a 1" difference in the tire size. My son went from the 245s to 285/75/17s - that made a big difference.

@There'sOnlyOne, I apologize if your were told you could not upsize your tires at a Discount Tire store,. We mount up sized tires every day on Jeeps. We will not mount a tire that is not rated for a specific rim width. It could be there was a misunderstanding.

Let us know if we can help in the future.

Even at a $100 discount per tire, it'd be a cold day in hell before I'd let a Wal-Mart technician touch my Jeep.

I've used Discount Tires for all tires for any vehicle I've bought tires for since I was 16 and I've never once had a bad experience. Whether I asked for the cheapest set of rubber they could use (college years) or had the scratch to get actually good tires, their reps are always helpful, knowledgeable, and never push stuff on me. I'd gladly pay an extra $400 for them to do it vs Wal-Mart, but as others have mentioned, they price match so it's a non-issue.

I will say that Wal~Mart was the only place that would mount tires on my icon pro wheels. I took the wheels, tires, and tools to them and they charged me standard mounting rates. they also have balancing and work with me when I get stuff in the tires. We have a discount tire in town but they refused to touch my icon pro wheels. If you choose that route only go during the week though, you get the full time employees that know what they are doing.

Hmm, how many companies are monitoring our conversations? If I said I like Pepsi Cola (I really do) will Pepsi chime in?

Hey Discount Tire. Do y'all get a notification or is someone there a Jeep JL member that happened to see the post?

I think it’s great that they monitor the site. I wish Jeep corporate did so they could hear about problems like paint bubbling on one year old vehicles. I give Discount Tire credit for staying on top of what is going on with their customer base.

I forgot to check Discount Tire, their price is identical to Walmart. I’ll have to see if Disc

I completely forgot about Amazon. They’re $50 apiece less than Walmart. I’m going to have my local garage mount them anyway so that’s not an issue.
I purchased some tires from Amazon. The price included an installation discount with a local tire shop, and beat any other option by far. When they were delivered, I brought my jeep up to the shop, and they installed them with no issue. I asked the manager if they made any money on these deals with Amazon, and he said no way, it's just a deal that corporate has with Amazon. I just tipped the installer a couple of 20's, then we talked Jeeps for a bit. I felt less bad about taking advantage of a local business via Amazon. I'm not a huge Amazon fan, but I can't quit them.

If I had a Discount Tire closer to me, I'd definitely use them.

Thanks for responding. Yes it was a rim width issue not an upsize issue. Though it is a very common tire size owners like to mount, Ford Super Duty, I do understand why DT won’t do it. No problems just a personal experience. I still bought tires and went with the OE specs.

+1 on @Discount Tire Tire I bought some takeoff wheels from a forum member with literally a couple dozen total miles on them. Nobody in town would mount my almost new factory tires on these wheels other than Discount Tire. The folks there are great to work with.

Score one for Discount Tire. I found that Amazon had the same tires for less and Discount Tire will match Amazon's price including free shipping. So disregard the Walmart question, I'm buying from Discount Tire. Thanks all for your input.

Are the Wildpeaks that Walmart sells truly “real” Wildpeaks? Anyone else purchased them from Walmart? If so what do you think?
Some years ago, we purchased a set of Goodyear Viva tires for our Honda. The tires were the real thing, so to speak, and we were well-satisfied with their service life.

The WM employee who installed the tires gouged one of the factory alloys pretty well. We now use the Honda dealer, or Costco, for our tire purchase/installation needs. No complaints after several purchases from each place.
