He may not know MOABs or the targeted build. MOABs also had the Rubicon Suspension and were consider top of the line (if I remember correctly the MOAB was an 11k package). When I was researching mine for purchase it was valued over the Rubicon model by KBB. But that’s not why I bought one. I bought it because it checked every box for my needs and I’m so glad I did.

No matter, people that bought them know exactly what they have!

Aside from that and back to the point here, they don’t have any of the “Rubicon red”, including the tow hooks, dash, etc. The original post that I responded to, was wishing those items were black, and on the MOAB they are…

I don’t know what’s frowned upon because I don’t care. Do what you want. I had a 2018 Jk with a JL sport front bumper with red tow hooks and JT Rubicon wheels.

With all due respect, I do know what it was and that is why I said what I said. You can consider it top of the line for what you were looking for. That is awesome no one would argue. That's why people choose different trim level to fit their wants, needs, and budget.

If you look at the facts, Moab was based on Sahara with some additional "Off Road" features (Even Jeep said that when it first came out). Similar to the Willy's is based on Sport later on. The only things you couldn't get from a Sahara/unique to Moab were front steel bumper $500-$750, Hood $1000, MT tires+17" black out Rubicon wheels $800, decals $50, rubicon shocks and springs $100, Rock rails $150, and some misc items. Of course, being a rare/special model increases the resale value and all that. At the end of the day, in its core its a Sahara variant.

It my personal option, its a good looking Jeep I love that color and the black out tow hook, but not what I would pay premium for. Its just me. I didnt say "its just a Sahara with some features" to look down on it.

To answer the question I originally tried to answer, no it does not have locking dana 44 front & rear and it does not have 4:1 transfer case.

Yes, I remember when MOAB came out. I liked it a lot. Like you said: it checked all the boxes.

Unfortunately, they were all gone by the time I was ready to buy. I ended getting a well-equipped Sahara with Select-Trac instead.

Whether consciously or not, I‘ve been building it into some sort of MOAB: added a lift, steel bumpers, 17-inch wheels, etc.

We hate red so we replaced the red front and rear hooks on my wife’s Rubicon with orange hooks to match the stripe. Then we replaced the trail rated badge with one from a 392 for a better color. Then the hood decal went. She wanted to go with brown because the orange was too much for her. She did not like the big letters, so we used the older font, in brown.

DUDE.....nice setup. I've always compared the old school "Rubicon" vs the new, and my consensus was that I like the new....BUT, yours came out great. Nice looking rig!

Looks great! I'm thinking about doing the same. I like the tan seats, but not sure about how well they will look with the Sting Grey. That stated, I think we can agree that anything will look better than the Affliction-shirt-inspired red dash. If its not too much trouble, could you post some interior pictures too?

I think it looks great with the Sting Gray.
