It is, actually. I’m fairly sure those that posted reviews about it falling are fairly inept at installing things. Follow the instructions, take your time, easy win.

As long as you have 16” on center joists. Mine were 32” on center, 70+ years old and spanned my whole garage front yo back with only a couple 1x4s tying two of them to the rafters in the middle. I could have just put 2x4s across them but I didn’t want to trust all the weight to a couple lag bolts on each side in 70 year old 2x6s. Before I added all my 2x6s and tied it to the rafters it was pretty sketchy putting weight on one of the joists.

I’ll say it- so easy. Finally- taking the top off is an effortless deal. Maybe 5 minutes? Unscrew the bolts, clip it in, turn crank. Boom. Thanks Topsy!!!!

These Racor lifts, how much can one lower them, I have like a 12 ft ceiling, is there enough payout on them?

They lower about 8 feet total. So as long as that touches the top of your Jeep- you are fine. Based on even the smallest wheel size- you would be more than fine.

Those guys over at Topsy made me some custom straps for my Rubicon. I bet if you ask them they could make some custom length straps for your tall ceiling.

Can someone tell me the exact distance from the left bracket to the right bracket when installed? Working on a recessed hoist that will disappear into the ceiling, but need to know where the drops will be. Thanks!

Racor came in today... Had to take down 1 set of overhead storage... Will work on getting the hoist assembled and up this week.

Installed mine today. 14' ceilings in the garage and other than the crank being too short and my OCD struggling to get the platform level everything else was easy. I rented a scaffold which made things much easier. Probably easiest as a 2 person job but I didn't have anyone around today to help.

Picked up a racor lift off Craig’s list for $89 still in the box. Now just waiting for Topsy to sell out of the red brackets. I have zero red on my jeep

That’s not a bad idea. I wonder if I can find it in silver to match my Jeep. I guess worst case scenario it scratches and just gets touched up

I'm guessing the hinges on your rear window are black. Spraying black makes sense to me because it totally blends in with that hardware. It's why I went that route even with Ocean Blue. I didn't want them noticeable, and frankly, I haven't even noticed them knowing they are there since installing them. Whatever is your taste though.

Though if you have body color top, then I could see why you feel that way. Really any hard setting paint should work, so find silver if that's your bet, and worst case, you spray some on a piece of cardboard and touch up as needed after dropping your top.

I do have a body colored top, but you make a good point about the black hinge. Hmmm decisions, decisions lol
