How does a blow a head gasket at 10 K? That’s crazy!
Yes very new, still haven’t purchased yet! Those are the only concerns I have where it comes down to getting one. Seems like it’s better to swap it for something ore reliable than whatever’s coming from the factory…😭
Those instances are exactly why there is a factory warranty in place.

My Jeep needed a new rear axle around the 18k mile mark. Took them 6 weeks to get a replacement. I did get a loaner, no questions asked.

Marginal product reliability seems to be a steady trend in the automotive industry. You can visit other forums, including European cars. It seems as no one wants to own a Porsche outside of the warranty period (same as you can read on this platform as well).

OEM’s give suppliers a max value they’re willing to pay for a part; so the supplier figures out how much R&D they can afford to invest in it. End result is marginal quality with the thought that fixing or replacing eventual failures is less expensive than spending more on R&D for a better (more expensive part).

My 2023 3.6 JL Sport is my daily driver, covering 2000-2500 miles a month.
I put 60k miles on a 2018 JK, 60k miles on a 2020 GC, and so far 38k miles on this one; all 3.6-V6’s, without any engine problems - All of them received diligent maintenance.
I ordered this 2023 Sport purposely with the least amount of add-ons, and with the intention to keep it for a very long time.
While I do not off-road, there is a great feel of nostalgia, when driving a Wrangler.

Oh crap - I’ll be the next one getting picked-on here, that I bought the wrong vehicle! 🤣

You might fit in after all...
We will see
Looks like thats a no.

Your thoughts and well-wishes are very much appreciated! Thank You!!
Stay safe; you'll probably want to plan on evac Tuesday night as the current track would have the worst part (the southeastern edge of the eyewall) hitting Punta Gorda along with the brunt of the storm surge.

Good luck to the other Floridians here; especially those on the coasts.

Very much appreciated! Watching the track forecasts like a hawk. We’ve had 3 storm eyes come over the house over the years. These systems are very powerful and need to be taken seriously. Our house is 15 miles inland - luckily we will not deal with a direct impact of storm surge.

I'd love to see evidence about that? Which car models and which problems are we talking about? I am under the impression that as far as german cars go, anything with a BMW B58 or a Porsche drivetrain is pretty much the most reliable stuff you'll get.

Plus unlike Stellantis, you can still get full manufacturer support for a 5-10-50 year old Porsche.

It’s just like on here - IF you believe the Forums…….
You will find Porsche Cylinder Bore Scoring (aside of IMS failures). The PCA has interesting series’ of videos covering these topics.
BMW X series seem to show transfer case issues. Many within warranty period, many outside. Engine oil leaks, electric water pump failures, electronics playing games……

I do believe that most mechanical issues on a German car are directly related to lack of OEM prescribed maintenance. Example - Porsche moved away from the PDK Fluid For Life fill.
Also agree that German car makers apply MUCH greater efforts to improve their product and keep customers happy.

My previous point was merely that Forums across most car brands report very similar experiences of premature failures. This in no way to defend Stellantis; rather it seems it’s become an industry standard for the end user to do the Field Testing.

Please don’t get me wrong - I’d buy a Porsche 718 GTS 4.0 6 Speed in a heartbeat. The ultimate Sportscar Dream!

So has anyone looked into a Maserati valvetrain swap?
I'm more interested in what the difference is, other than running a thicker oil.

Indeed!! Evacuations are in full swing. The interstate going north is bumper to bumper. Boarding up the house tomorrow. Early storm impacts are expected by Tuesday afternoon, with a predicted Wednesday evening landfall. Wishing your family the best of Luck!!
My folks are staying as they always have. I live over in Melbourne and family back home has an open invitation to come over. If Milton looks like it is coming, on Tuesday I'll run over and board up my parents house and head back to Melbourne Tuesday evening.
We wish you all the best! With these events, the topic of this thread, and most others for that matter, seem so irrelevant. Stay safe, and good luck! 🙂

Stay safe all. We spent Saturday prepping the house. We’re in Vero so fingers crossed it’s not going to be big effects here.

There are some things I don't miss about living in Satellite Beach. Hurricanes top that list.

Stay safe everyone.
