So a property tax for equipment used to build things? Perpetual taxation…. Nah
Taxation is theft.

I agree about the theft part - but sometimes, overprofit is theft too. I'd rather have an imperfect car that feeds workers, than inflate the paycheck of car manufacturers' executives.

The guy stirring up stuff that said “the government spent a lot of money bailing you guys out”. Either this video is really old or it is likely those guys were not even building cars back in 2008. He is right up there with the jerks that like to tell cops “l pay your salary”.
That video has been around just look at the cars and trucks, nothing new or even close...I saw this video years ago.

I'll also add that the majority of the quality problems I see people talk about on the forum have nothing to do with the assembly plant.

as long as we charge taxes on the robots. I'm all for the robots but not at the expense of 10 employees running a factory making 25M$ each. Tax robots like employees.
Should we put an extra tax on tractors because they displaced all those guys with shovels?

You have just described the sports and movie industries. Paying someone millions to bounce a ball or play make believe is beyond ridiculous.

Nope - They generate more revenue than they receive so the consumers of their work are saying they are worth it… Plus who am I to decide how much someone should be able to charge for their talents?

Not necessarily true. They have no risk, just like a union worker. Profit or not, they get paid.

Nobody says anything about these idiots making millions for a couple of months work, and yet those same people scream about CEO salaries. CEO salaries are tied to company revenue/profits and are generally less.

Based on Boeing's latests mishaps, it seems that they hired them all.
Not so far from the truth. They hire from about the same demographic labor pool as Jeep.

Hard to call a guy that is smart enough to find a way to sell a few months work for a few million bucks an idiot. If only I was such an idiot…

those are the guys who "installed" my Gladiator's leaky rear window...
No, no. Don't get them mixed up with the guys that weld the frames.

This video is proof positive that the UAW should be disbanded. These workers were hired back? Do you think the Japanese or Germans would put up with that? For you UAW drones, if you aren't a part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

At least it’s easier for me to decide whether I want to pay for it or not. But if you need outside the big urban areas in North America, you need a car…. And at least the owners of those clubs do not make 100 to 500x the avg salary of the employees which manufacture the goods.

I’ve enjoyed this rumble between union versus meritocracy, and capitalists versus socialists. I’ve giggled out loud several times. Thank you all.

Sadly, I can’t participate. If I weigh in on topics that are half this political I get a “strike“, so I can’t share my pithy comments. :)

I can’t determine what constitutes “political” in the worldview of our forum moderators. I’ve asked for guidance twice but received no response. If any of you understand why this discussion is NOT political under this forum’s rule set, or if you’ve been given clear direction on what is considered political when no politics are being discussed, please PM me, as I’m more confused than ever.
