  1. Ditch the 0w-20 before its too late.

Just to add… in all my search about the 3.6 ticking noise, I’ve never seen a professional mechanic recommend thicker oil - all refer to rollers replacement. The only other ticking you can get are coming from the injectors. There too, thicker oil will have no impact. A PSA :
  2. Ditch the 0w-20 before its too late.

I’m telling you to fix the issue, instead of MASKING the noise. You have a high probability of having broken rollers - it’s a common failure on the 3,6. Thicker oil will not even delay the issue - just hide it long enough for the damage to be catastrophic. The bearings on one or multiple...
  3. Rear window defroster unsoldered?

If you scan previous posts, quite few of us seem to have found a way to fix this « permanently ». Some of you on this post are tired of my explanation, but since people keep posting their problem without reading the previous 30 pages, I’ll put it again anyway… I the issue is caused by 2 things...
  4. Accidentally used 5W-20

IMHO, this thread is misleading. 1) in this thread, the guy wants to switch to thicker oil to fix a ticking sound from his engine. However, a new ticking sound on a 3,6 is most likely a rocker roller failure, which is quite common on that engine. The bearings on some of the rollers fail...
  5. Ditch the 0w-20 before its too late.

To be honest, you are going at it the wrong way! the 3.6 have a notorious issue with the rocker/lifters which cause the ticking sound. the bearing on the rollers go bad and they will allow their side wall to groove the cams. the ticking sound comes from the slack it creates between the rocker...
  6. This is why Jeeps always break

At least it’s easier for me to decide whether I want to pay for it or not. But if you need outside the big urban areas in North America, you need a car…. And at least the owners of those clubs do not make 100 to 500x the avg salary of the employees which manufacture the goods.
  7. Jeep Cuts Pricing (and/or Adding More Standard Content)!

Well, what I intended to mean was that at the end they were probably the onlky models you could negotiate down...
  8. This is why Jeeps always break

I agree about the theft part - but sometimes, overprofit is theft too. I'd rather have an imperfect car that feeds workers, than inflate the paycheck of car manufacturers' executives.
  9. Jeep Cuts Pricing (and/or Adding More Standard Content)!

Sorry to say, but with all the issues the diesel have had in the past (not even sure they solved those), no wonder they are not moving and are being discounted. My neighbor is in a sticky situation with his 2021 leased diesel JLUR: he received recall letters for numerous issues (can't recall...
  10. Sahara with Xtrem Recon upgrade - current issues and potential fix ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion Jeff, I'll look at those! Additional questions: could I keep the stock control arms with that lift (as I have now), or you think that with the extra weight, I'll have a lift within the geometry limits of the standard links (I do have longer swaybar liinks that came...
  11. 2018 3.6L V6 Misfire

FYI, the oil might also come from the oil filter and cooling assembly in the valley between both banks. It's a common issue and Dorman makes 1 100% aluminium replacement part. Also, although it was not the case here, misfire codes may appear when rockers start to fail - the misfire is detected...
  12. This is why Jeeps always break

okay... but right now, the plant pays humans to do the work. if they would pay only 50% of what they pay in salary in taxes for every employee fired, they would still save money, and save on benefits too. So no, they would not have to swing the tax to the buyers. Worst, right now they are...
  13. Sahara with Xtrem Recon upgrade - current issues and potential fix ideas?

Hi everyone, I swapped my 2019 JLUS (3,6 auto) original suspension for a take-off Xtrem Recon from a guy that took it off his 2022 Jeep. Got it for $600 cdn. Installation went great, and I got about 1,5 in. of lift front, 1,75 in back, and the general ride is even better than the stock Sahara...
  14. Jeep Cuts Pricing (and/or Adding More Standard Content)!

I think you put the finger on the whole thing. there is a 25% price difference between my 2019 Sahara build vs the 2024 equivalent. Talking in $cdn here - considering that you need to fork $85K for a stock Rubicon before tax - that's closer to $100K out the door, for what is in all its might...
  15. Jeep Cuts Pricing (and/or Adding More Standard Content)!

I guess so, but to be honest, there are not a lot of Broncos in my area. More like Unicorns. What I do see is a bunch of stock JLs, and in my area quite a few 4xe - mind you, my area has a high density of EV compared to other. And most of those will never hit the trail either - our trail...
  16. Jeep Cuts Pricing (and/or Adding More Standard Content)!

You are right! But my potentially biased observation is that there was a big push on Wranglers when JLs got out. But my observation is probably tainted by the fact that I now own one…. Still, it seems like I do salute more Jeeps now than when I first got my Jeep in 2019 😁
  17. Jeep Cuts Pricing (and/or Adding More Standard Content)!

Well, the resale value is also dropping. First and foremost, they flooded the market pre-COVID. One of my neighbors, a life-long Jeep enthusiast, commented on that, and he's right: just on my street, I got 3 of them with Jeeps. None are taking those offroad, and all are Rubicon. He mentions...
  18. Jeep Stolen in Downtown Montreal

Honestly, they don't even need to read your key anymore... Programming a new key using a diag tool like Lauch or Autel just takes few minutes. And just to know: Montreal is one of the worst Canadian cities for car theft, and Jeeps are very popular. Beware!!!
